Audiosurf
BestGameEver.com :: Interactive Game Design
Audiosurf: ride your music YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. Audiosurf is a game that uses your own music. Neat. Haven't tried it yet myself, but threads involving this subject matter have reached explosion status proportionally. First, get Audiosurf: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service then use this fix: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service mirror: AudioSurfOfflinev2.zip Do not update Audiosurf. edit: removed non-working fixes. edit: Here's a noob video of me playing One Winged Hutt with Ninja Mono (get all colors, avoid gray) One Winged Hutt, for those who actually don't have it (Alot funner with Pointman Elite (my current favorite), or Pusher Elite probably (not my thing)) So what's everyone's favorite songs to play? |
You can play it online, you know. That's what I'm doing, anyway.

saw this on /v/ for the past couple of days on some other boards, kinda reminds me of a graphically enhanced version of M.A.G.S.

This is basically Amplitude mixed with Puyo Puyo, and it is GREAT just to screw around with. The best part is finding songs that have some really epic twist in the track, like Queen's Don't Stop Me Now.
The algorithm this guy uses to generate the track is AMAZING. The bumps in the road will match the beat, in that Queen song there's a really epic downslope during the leadup to the guitar solo, and other really awesome twists and turns. And 9 times out of 10, everything syncs up in a rhythmically pleasing way, and it's really fun. My one gripe is that the game gets a little ridiculous if the song is fast/dense enough. It becomes next to impossible to collect a coherent set of any color on, say, chiptunes. Too many instruments. Queen - Don't Stop Me Now Yakety Sax Muse - Map of the Problematique Muse - Knights of Cydonia All of those have really EPIC parts involving downhill slams or corkscrews. Merv found a few more, and I don't have access to my IRC logs at school, so if he can come in and fill us in on what he found that'd be super. |
Wow, this is awesome! Thanks for the heads up man. Going to try this with some of the Gyakuten Saiban tracks :)
