Synaesthete

Synaesthete is a Digipen Project, and from what I've played, it has proven itself as enjoyable and addicting. Essentially, it's part Platformer and part StepMania; you control one aspect with each hand. It's hard to describe, and you really have to give it a try to understand. The concept is very unique and original, and they manage to pull it off quite well.

Basically, you have a StepMania - like interface which controls your attacks. The more accurate you are, the more damage you do. This is controlled by the right hand. The left hand, on the other hand (sorry), controls your little dude, and is used to dodge the enemies and move from room to room. The music is all of the House/Trance/Electronica genre, and most of the tracks are really catchy. Once all of this mixes together (especially how all the enemies and objects pulse to the beat), you really can't help but tap your foot.

Check out 1UP's coverage here (somewhere in the middle of the feature).

Get it here! (Did I mention it's free?)

If you like the music, you can grab the OST here.

Oh wow, that looks awesome. Rez meets Smash TV. =o I'll definitely give this a shot, thanks for the thread!

Dang. It looks pretty sweet, but I have no idea if I'll be able to handle moving around the same time as doing the rhythm stuff. It hurt my eyes just trying to follow both of them when I wasn't playing. :(

Don't worry, the game isn't that difficult. In fact, my only disappointment so far is that it's too easy :(

Well, I just beat the game. Even though it was a bit short (9 levels + a boss), I loved every minute of it. I threw the OST on my iPod because the music is kickass. If a future version ever comes out, I'd love to see some sort of co-op or multiplayer.

Spoiler:
I've unlocked a hard mode, and damn, hard shit is hard.
