Dental work

It's not cheap but it's necessary.

I've been putting it off for awhile due to financial reasons but now that I've got everything together, I need to take care of some dental work. I'm going to use Delta Dental which seems to be a pretty decent dental insurance provider. I need to get some wisdom teeth extracted and that sucks. I've been putting it off and some permanent damage has been done to my teeth (I'm going to have to get braces to have some of it corrected) but it's cool. At least I'm taking care of it now, I think.

Unfortunately, I'm a vagina when it comes to these things. I can't handle dental pain for shit. I squirm and just.. BLAH I can't deal with it. It hurts like hell and I swear to god that novacaine shit doesn't work on me. For my wisdom teeth extraction they're actually going to be putting me to sleep. That's going to cost me around $200, but that's cool. So long as I don't have to deal with the goddamned pain. I remember the last time I had my wisdom teeth extracted, it hurt like hell. And I mean LIKE HELL. I was in pain for the next three weeks and pretty much couldn't do anything. I couldn't even think because the pain was so excruciating.

Anyways, what are your experiences with the dentist? Do you need work done? TALK!

I don't have and recent experiences with dentists, I blame my lack of insurance. So far as when I was younger? Well, not much there, either, except I remember when I found out one of my baby teeth had a cavity.

I cried.

I don't think the extracting of the wisdom teeth hurts at all.
The pain comes after you're done. They will warn you about this. It can last a few days to a week, maybe more. You can ask for painkillers pills.

If you want to save some money, my advice is to drop the drug injection that puts you to sleep. It's money saved.... But of course, if you have the money, it's no problem...

And yes, I've pulled out both my wisdom teeth.
One tip: get some good soup.

Well, I've had them pulled before... hurt like a motherfucker. My teeth weren't numb at all and I could feel every little thing. They injected me with some shit but it hardly helped at all.

Really?
Then I suggest you go to another dentist :)

Do you remember how many drug injections you got? You should at least get 4, to take out all 4 of the nerve corners of the teeth.

I think I got 2 to start (he was only removing the bottom two). I ended up with 6 total.

I heard he was a shitty dentist though. There was a ridiculous amount of blood is what I was told as well. I remember him tugging and getting blood on his mask. That's pretty disgusting.

I had to get all four wisdom teeth pulled before I got my braces. It was the first time I had gone under... anaesthesiasiasa... however the hell you spell it. You know, that drug that makes you sleep during surgery and whatnot. It was pretty weird. One second I'm counting backwards from 10, the next, I'm waking up with cotton in my mouth.

I've had braces for about 2 years now. I used to have fears about getting braces. I thought they'd be painful, but they're really not. I can't wait to get them off. I'm supposed to get them off this year... hopefully. My orthodontist keeps changing the date after every check-up. :\
