Installing OS (Vista)
Okay, tomorrow I am going to be installing Vista. I normally don't install OS, I let my friend do it but she doesn't feel like helping me at the moment :eagletear:.
So yay, this is my first time ever I will be installing OS. Is there anything I should be aware of? Or is this straight forward, put it on DVD -> follow screen instruction? |
As with any OS installations, back up all important data.
Keep in mind that Vista has issues with some hardware and such. Be prepared to have an extra computer ready to download any drivers and patches you may need. I have heard it is not as bad as before, but most likely the Vista you are installing is without the updates, newer drivers, etc. |
mortis is right about downloading drivers and patches, but I'm going to suggest downloading them before you even install the OS. Download those drivers and burn them to a CD or DVD. Less headaches that way.

Make an image of your hardrive using Acronis or Norton Ghost so if anything goes wrong you can instantly restore everything back to how it was.
It is fairly simple pop in Vista CD, reformat/change partitions, and install. If you have a Sata hardrive you may need a driver. Once in windows install all your drivers and software. You can then use something like Black Viper's Web Site to tweak windows to run faster. |
Thanks, its working. I <3 it.
