Couldn't we turn off the redirecting url?
Is this possible? Sometimes I want to save a link toward my download manager but they become invalid because it becomes like this: http%3A%2F%2Fasdf.com/%2fasdf.rar.
It's not really a big problem, but it would be nice if it could be turned off somehow. Thanks in advance :) |
%20 is just the code for a space. I'm not sure if you can retype the entries in a download manager, but maybe that would help.

The redirect can make it difficult to save some direct link downloads, even if you don't use a download manager, as it can screw around with the right click->save linked file as command. I would also appreciate it being turned off – at least in the My Stuff forum. That being said, it's not like this is the biggest problem ever, just a tiny hassle on occasion.

i.e. instead of <a href="http://gamingforce.org/someURL?http://goatse.cz"> you'd have <a href="http://goatse.cz" ping="http://gamingforce.org/someURL?http://goatse.cz"> Can vB serve different markup for different browsers (i.e. through UA sniffing)? Disregard that, I suck cocks. Apparently the redirect is to blank the referrer. |
Third time's the charm!

I think the redirect url is stupid. I can't remember the specifics, but I know it cause me an annoyance on multiple occasions. Why are we using it?

I've never encountered this problem so I don't really know what you guys are talking about. Which redirecting url? ;_; Otherwise I'd be happy to fix it.
|
Don't "fix" it. I suspect the redirecting feature to eat some referrer information, which otherwise would be transfered to the webserver we link to. That would be especially problematic in the "My Stuff" area, where a lot of links link to file-hosting services.
