Can't delete a MOV-file
There's a file on my harddrive that I want to delete, but for some odd reason I can't delete it.
Everytime I try to rename it it (both name and extension), Windows Explorer crashes. I tried go to Command Line in DOS and typed in: c:\> delete nameofthefile.mov c:\> del nameofthefile.mov c:\> deltree nameofthefile.mov None of these commands works. MS-DOS just runs in the background without anything happening. When I try just hitting the delete button on the file, Vista just pops up the message: Calculating time remaining... - Recycling 1 item Then it just goes on forever loading, without anything happening. I did a file scan on it, and I don't think it's a virus. Right clicking on the file doesn't help anything as I don't get a menu up. Please tell me how to delete the file (I'm admin-user of the PC if it helps)... Does it has something to do with the access rights to the file? |
try to make scandisk for C driver than try delete your files

I had this problem in the past. Get a program called Unlocker, it'll allow you to rename and delete files easily (and it'll also allow you to get past those stupid "Cannot rename/delete folder/file; it is currently in use" messages).

Thank you for your replies. I will try the suggestions.

I just tried both softwares, none of them worked.
It ended up with both getting the error message: "Not responding". >:( I'm not sure what you mean by scandisk, I'm running Vista and I don't think I have it. Is it the same as Disk Cleanup? I did that and still the file was unable to be deleted. Also, I just created a test MOV-file file in After Effects and now they can't be deleted either... I'm going to try to run a disk fragmentation. This is the reason why I disklike Quicktime files... |
