Patapon
So basically this game looks like a trippy rhythm game reminiscent of Loco Roco. Tapping four of the buttons in a particular sequence makes the little dudes carry out certain actions. The art-style is definitely interesting, and the bosses look pretty interesting. It's coming out in Japan this winter, but I'm not sure about any plans for international release. It'd be neat. |
I've read about this, and it sounds pretty cool. Given how well Loco Roco did around the world I'd hope this would get a similar release, but who knows.
|
Well chalk this down for another PSP game I think might be worth owning. Gonna keep my eye on it. =)
|
Looks like another eyecandy for psp!
P.S Holy sh!t! Its Nabbie! |
WTF?! Language sounds like Malay... LOL!
|
Malay? In Tagalog (filipino) it means Throw away (as in garbage)
|
Just great... they keep pushing me to buy their darn little console... and if this one sees an US release, I think they'll made it.
|
I guess you'll be buying a PSP then. This has been announced for a release in North America in February.
I'm excited :3 |
I downloaded this, and god damn is it fun. It's kind of like Loco Roco except with a little more strategy involved. Each of the face buttons are mapped to a sound: Pata, Pon, Chaka, Don, and different four-button combinations will do something different.
Pata Pata Pata Pon = Move Pon Pon Pata Pon = Attack Chaka Chaka Pata Pon = Defend & Attack You defeat monsters and animals to get food, money, and items which you can then use to make more or stronger troops. You can also obtain better equipment off troops. Theres a full statistic system which is pretty neat to see if you can make the strongest Pon possible and wreck havoc. Definite buy when it comes out in the States. |
Saw the trailer a while back. I enjoyed Loco Roco, so I think I'll get this too.
|
Played it. Not a bad game at all. My friend has to explain to me how to move left and right (I guess that would be attack and defend) but I still got decimated. I can still hear though the little tune in my head. "Bom bom bom bom bom bom" (with every other bom a bit higher than the other one) as they go foward, and "Bom Bom Bom" (with each Bom being a lower 'note') as they go back.
|
I can't watch the video at the moment, but, from what everyone's been saying, it'll sound like a fun little game.
Damn you PSP, I must buy you soon! I guess I'll add this one to my list of "finally, some good games for the system" PSP list... |
Er, PSP had good games in 2007 already - where were you?
|

What I mainly meant from what I said was, around (maybe the middle of...? Don't quote me on that part.) 2007, there wasn't really, well, anything for it, but now, in my view at least, there's more than enough to warrant a purchase. Sorry for being vauge there. |
I know, I know... topic revival. I think it's worth it, though.
For those of you who don't want to wait until the 26th [or the 22nd for you Europeans], have CFW, and got tired of the demo... Patapon [EU/PAL] was leaked on Saturday. You can find it on quite a few torrent sites if you can't wait. I've been playing the game for a while now, and I must say... it's absolutely brilliant. Highly addictive. <3 |
Heh, so Nordisk Film (the Scandinavian publisher of all things Playstation) decided that Scandinavia hasn't deserved Patapon. This makes me rather cross, because this means I have to import it (From the UK, but nevertheless...)
However, it looks like it'll be worth it. |
Nope, Nordisk Film was intending to not release it here, but since they got so many complaints they changed their mind. I know that it's gonna be released here in Sweden at least the 27th of February :p
This really is a great game anyways, I've only played the japanese version, but I'll be trying to the translated version later to see what I missed out on in the Japanese. |
The game is amazing in terms of originality. But I am losing interest at quick rate.
|
I really love the art style of the game and the similarity between it and Loco Roco. Only difference is, for a rhythm-based game...it seems to have an awful annoying soundtrack and very simple controls. I would download the demo if I could find my PSP.
Is the music as repetitive as all the videos on it? Is there any variety? I like the artistic appeal but I can't see me playing it like I did Loco Roco (LOVED Loco Roco's music). |
Played the demo: I'm in love with this game.
|
This is one of the better games for the psp, very addictive and lot's of replay value. Unlocked the spear of protection in the demo and transfered it to the full game. Don't forget about it you guys, it's a great help in the beginning stages. Currently the desert is giving me troubles, but I won't go in detail. Play it yourself :)
|
I wasn't thinking I'd like this game too much but after reading the reviews I decided to downloaded it. Loved it. Now I'll definitely be buying it when it's released, ohoho.
I can see it getting repetitive, but I just love hearing the Patapon's chanting so much. I love when their attack chant gets all frenzied and angry. xD The last boss on the demo gave me some trouble as well... I had to play about 2 more times after my initial attempt to beat him and get the spear. |
