Can a Surgeon Operate on their own Family Members?

I HOPE this is the right place to post this...

other than the ethical issues- is it LEGAL for a surgeon to operate on their own family members in North America? Any feedback is appreciated

Yes. It is legal for a surgeon to operate on family members.

However, hospital guidelines may forbid them from doing so, since doctors are to maintain a certain detachment from their patients.
