Jump Drives as Memory help
Ok this is probably an easy problem to solve but I have been looking into getting new memory for my laptop for a while now BUT since my laptop is so old it only takes DDR memory NOT DDR 2 which means mines is more expensive and getting a new tower is something I wanted to do but I'm too lazy.
So I hear I can use those USB jump drives as extra memory, and they are cheap too, is there any special program or settings I need to use in windows xp (SP2) in order to use the jump drive as just extra memory? |
Was that even available on XP?
Anyway, Speedboost doesn't make much, if any, difference. Its much better to spend a little more for real memory. |
SpeedBoost™ can only be used under Windows Vista, and it is primarily for caching disk I/O. It is b not a replacement for real memory, and shouldn't be thought as such.
|
So, basically, it's helpful if you do a lot of reading and writing to CD's, DVD's, etc?

Damn, so much for my easy and cheap solution, thanks guys

Well, memsticks are still nice to have. I ALWAYS advice getting at least one memstick for backing up data/moving data.
