I'd also like to try my hand at nominating something that's a wee bit obscure, so I don't have a lot of info on it. There isn't even an official song title for it!

Artist: Hudson Soft Sound Team (all I could find)
Album/Game Title: Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu (NES Game Rip)
Track Title: BGM 02 (it's the second song in the NSF file)
Link: Jackie Chans Action Kung Fu BGM 02 - Putfile.com

Sorry I couldn't be more any specific, but like I said this is pretty obscure. >_>

All of them are great, wish I had more points...

(2 points) Force Majeure (Game Rip) <surasshu (Steven Velema)> - title
(1 point) Atelier Iris GRAND FANTASM Original Soundtrack <Ken Nakagawa> - Rain of Blossoms
(1 point) V' BALL <O'BITS (Takashi Furukawa, Yoshimitsu Hamano, Funky Yasuda), Kazunaka Yamane> - SeaSide Walker (L.A. Theme)

(1 point) Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito Image Sound Track <Noriyasu Agematsu (feel)> - Brilliant Marks of Heat Haze

----------------------------

Here's my next nomination:

Artist: Kiyomi Kataoka, Chiaki Iizuka, Reiko Uehara, Fumiko Suzuki
Original Composer: Kazunaka Yamane
Album: Double Dragon (Neo Geo CD Redbook Audio)
Track Title: Kochinda (Rebecca's Theme)
Year: 1995
Additional Information: This is from the "Street Fighter clone" version of Double Dragon, which is more obscure than the classic incarnation. An OST exists, but the sound is different and the tracks are shorter than from the redbook of this game.

I'll upload it to the nomination FTP.

The worst part about battle weeks is that you always end up giving no points to several good tracks. There isn't anything bad among this group of winners, and I keep changing my mind about which songs I want to give more points.

...

POINTS FOR ALL! (except two)

1 point - Atelier Iris GRAND FANTASM Original Soundtrack <Ken Nakagawa> - Rain of Blossoms
1 point - V' BALL <O'BITS (Takashi Furukawa, Yoshimitsu Hamano, Funky Yasuda), Kazunaka Yamane> - SeaSide Walker (L.A. Theme)
1 point - Raiden III Perfect Sound Track <Go Sato> - Dawn of sorrow (Level3)
1 point - Waterworld (SNES Game Rip) <Dean Evans> - Diving
1 point - Rockman Complete Works: Rockman 5: Blues' Trap!? (Game Rip) <Capcom> - Credits
1 point - Force Majeure (Game Rip) <surasshu (Steven Velema)> - title

1. title - Very nice synth piece. Perhaps a bit too repetitive but still the winner out of the bunch.
2. Diving - Interesting and different.
3. Credits - I like the melodies.

Seaside Walker - Good, but not great.
Rain of Blossoms - I generally like Atelier stuff, but this just seems way too generic. I'm surprised at its reception.
1 plus 1 equal 1 - Seems too standard to me.
Brilliant Marks of Heat Haze - I can tell that this is solid, but it's not the kind of piece that appeals to me.

Not much that I really liked among these winners.

Kaleb.G Nov 19, 2007 12:11 AM

3 points - Waterworld (SNES Game Rip) <Dean Evans> - Diving
Gotta love this Follinesque SNES synth and the drifting melody.

2 points - Atelier Iris GRAND FANTASM Original Soundtrack <Ken Nakagawa> - Rain of Blossoms
Rocking out with an array of instruments, a cool melody, and mood changes.

1 point - Force Majeure (Game Rip) <surasshu (Steven Velema)> - title
Good, evolving melody played by a neat tracker-ish synth.

Liontamer Nov 19, 2007 12:13 AM

Gimme a few minutes, if possible; I have it narrowed down

Additional Spam:
3 points: Waterworld (SNES Game Rip) <Dean Evans> - Diving
2 points: Rockman Complete Works: Rockman 5: Blues' Trap!? (Game Rip) <Capcom> - Credits
1 point: V' BALL <O'BITS (Takashi Furukawa, Yoshimitsu Hamano, Funky Yasuda), Kazunaka Yamane> - SeaSide Walker (L.A. Theme)
Close: Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito Image Sound Track <Noriyasu Agematsu (feel)> - Brilliant Marks of Heat Haze

Waterworld's intro didn't do it any favors, but once it picked up, the last 3/4s was smooooooove.

Rockman was a nice surprise.

V'BALL sounds so cheap and crappy to start, but I got won over by the awesome live guitar around the 1:40 mark. The soloing later was a bit too busy. If the rest didn't sound so cheap, it'd have gone higher.

Well fuckin' a%#

Defeated by Diving - again. Up until this last minute rush of voters, Rain of Blossoms was on track to win. I was feeling pretty good earlier tonight.

At least I can console myself with the knowledge that four of my winners have come in 2nd during their respective battles. That's no small accomplishment.

So, congrats to whoever nominated Diving. It's a hell of an SNES track.

Elorin Nov 19, 2007 08:30 AM

Oops. I forgot to vote... Great Battle Week here and congrats to "Diving"! I'd have voted like this:

(2 points) Waterworld (SNES Game Rip) - Diving

(2 points) Rockman Complete Works Rockman 5 Blues' Trap!! (Game Rip) - Title Screen
Great track. I think I need to remember to look for the rest of the soundtrack/game rip now.

(1 point) Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito Image Sound Track - Brilliant Marks of Heat Haze

(1 point) Force Majeure (Game Rip) - title

...with Atelier just missing.
