WMP gives me unwanted black space!

This started happening all of a SUDDEN. I have no clue what caused it:

Note that is just a normal .mp3 file. No matter how I resize the player window, that inch-thick bar remains. This goes for any file that WMP plays, even a blank player displays it.

Does anyone know what caused this, and, more importantly, how to eliminate it?

Play---->Lyrics,Captions,and Subtitles------>off

Whoaaaa I don't know how that got turned on, but turning it off did the trick. Thanks!
