Melty Blood: Act Cadenza
So I just played Melty Blood: Act Cadenza today in ps2, I must say this is one of the most enjoyable fighting game ever.
Melty Blood basically is a fighting game that featured characters from Tsukihime, a visual novel published by Type Moon which made a huge hit and massive fanbase in Japan. There has been many fan-developed game, but this one is (CMIW) is the official one published by Type Moon. The game has similar feature like these in Street fighter series (especially Marvel vs Capcom, imo) Super attacks, canceling attack, etc. Though the combination keys I think, are much simpler. This game also have special room where you could see all CGs and music from the game, which is nice additional. I just recently played it though, and mine so far only has reached 4%. I wonder if someone else play the game too? Is there any secret characters or anything to do to unlock all secrets available?:erm: |
I play the PC version, Melty Blood Act Cadenza Ver.B2. If you can get a hold of a copy of it, it's far superior to the PS2 version; Infinite combos are fixed, you can actually make out what the voices are saying, there's two new playable characters (White Len and Neko Arc Chaos), new stages, Tag Team mode, and even a decent netplay application.
My characters of choice are Hisui/Kohaku (Either individually or as a team) and Len, getting better with White Len. |
A new version of Melty Blood has been announced, with infinite guarding finally fixed, two new characters, and more stuff. Comes out in 2008.
*edit* also my choice in characters are Nanaya and Shiki Tohno. Quote:

I hope it will be released in ps2, unfortunately, my laptop is not too powerful too install this game ;_;.
Edit: at the moment, my choice for characters are Arcueid and Nanaya. |
I always played with everyone but more with Sion Eltnam Atlasia and Red Arcueid. I play it a few times when im bored . Is there an online patch for this yet?
Also : I went through the whole arcade play and it says that I have neko arc chaos but I dont see her anywhere. Any ideas? |
There is an online patch, but it doesn't work very well/is really hard to use sometimes.
Also, while highlighting Chaos, press start. |
Daamn. It looks like the damn thing didn't save when I beat it once. But thanks for the tip. As for the new version, I can't wait for it since it's getting two new characters.
What I don't understand is if they make many version of this game. Why not give it a shot at Fate/Stay Night? |
No idea. However, there are fan-based fighting games based of off Fate out there.
|
I think Fate/stay Night will have the fighting game titled Tiger Coliseum (has it been released already?), it's cell shading and doesnt seem really appealing to me though =/
Oh yeah, I think there are lot of doujin fighting game featured characters from type moon characters, though I dont know which one is the best alternative for melty blood. |
Oops, I forgot about that one.
Fate/Tiga is a really good game, actually. |
I tried out that Tiger Coliseum (PSP right?). Not fun at all. All characters are chibis anyway plus the OST sounds good at least. The only fate game I played was a cell shaded 2d fighter Fatal Fake.

I played the hell out of this with my friends when I first saw and downloaded it a year or so ago. It is really fun, although the FEEL of how it shows isn't as satisfying as something like Street Fighter or GG. The fighting style feels more like the Rival Schools on PS1, but not 3d of course. This is only to some extent and really just an opinion.
The gameplay actually is more like GG than anything, but less complicated. Still fun though. |
I love this game. I got Act Cadenza for the PS2 when it first came out, but the Ver.B for the PC is superior (though I miss the character selection announcer). Yes, there is a netplay patch available, and it works well enough, at least a lot better than what the online play for ReACT used to be like. I'd love to thrown down with some GFF members sometime. I play as Akiha Tohno and Vermilion, Shiki Tohno, Kohaku, Nvnsqr Chaos, and Ciel.
Oh, and keep playing the PS2 version. There are plenty of unlockables. You have almost all of the characters from the start, but there is a lot of artwork and fighting announcers to get. |
