Kind of a long shot - can you obtain an IP address from a MSN convo?
 

I had a MSN convo with someone awhile ago, and I need the IP with their address, unfortunately the person has run off and hasn't come back on. All I have left is my chat log with them. Is there any way to obtain an IP address from that? Or would I require an active convo?

What are you going to do. Hack him/her?

Anyway, yes it requires an active connection with the person. The simple way is to start a file transfer and then monitor the IPs you connect to using something like ActivePorts.

Not trying to hack. I had a WoW account I was selling and the person just had a convo with me, paid me in paypal, but is now freezing his payment. So I needed to match his IP address location with the paypal address.

Then just get him to mail you. Way easier to trace an IP.

Also, while you could use other programs to determine their IP during chat in some instances, you can't do crap with logs.

Ya, I've tried to have the scammer reply to me via email since I know how to track IP that way, but I'm pretty sure he/she's smarter than that though. :(
