Plugging up a PS2 into computer's video card

I got a new computer for college and brought my PS2 with me as well. After fumbling around for several days with Windows Media Center I figured out how to get the PS2 to work. The computer has a Hauppauge TV tuner card. One problem though: there's a 2 second lag, which means, of course, that everything is unplayable. I then tried it through the Hauppauge WinTV program and the same exact lag occured. My video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS and I plugged the PS2 in with an S-video component. Can anyone help?

That's more than likely an s-video out. That means your computer is trying to broadcast an image to the Playstation, not the other way around.

The only way you'll get your PS2 is to figure out how to get that Hauppage card working right. I've got a Hauppage card that doesn't give me any lag (I think it's one of the lower end Win TV 2 Go cards; I bought it from some dude at my school for $20), so maybe there's some drivers that could be updated or something?

No, I plugged it in correctly; I might have worded it oddly. I've got the updated drivers for the Hauppauge card.

No, RR is right. Your Video Card does not have an S-Video Input, it has an output, so while you can "plug it in", the computer will never, ever get a single bit of data from your PS2 over that link.

Guys, I'm not an idiot. Here are pictures to show you that it's plugged in correctly and a picture of it actually working in WinTV. The issue is the lag, not the plugging in!

It's a common problem to get lag while using a video card/ TV cards input capability with a game console, usually rendering the faster paced games that require quick timing very difficult to play. It seems to vary though depending on the card and computer.

I don't have a link for it, but there are boxes that suit the need well, one which you plug the monitor into, as well as the computer and game system. You then switch the feed between the computer and console output, somewhat similar to a KVM switch. That is only helpful though if you want to simply use your monitor as a TV.

Ah, you made it sound as if you had plugged your PS2 into your video card instead of the TV tuner.
