Changing and Adding More RAM (Timing)

Hey guys,

I got a question because I am a bit confused about it.

I want to add 1GB of RAM to my computer, but I found out its cheaper to buy two 1GB sticks instead of buying another pair of 512MB to match the current ones I have. The ones I have set right now are timed at CL5-5-5-12 and are default at that too, I believe. There is RAM avaliable from OCZ that are set for CL4-4-4-10 and also CL4-4-4-15. Will either of this stuff run on my board?

Here are my specs:

Windows Server 2003
ASUS M2N-E mobo NVIDIA Chipset
AMD 64 4200+ Dual Core
Nvidia 7600GT 256MB
250GB Western Digital SATA RAID
Sound Blaster Audigy 24-bit

The current RAM in the computer is PC2-6400 1 GB 2X512MB DDR2-800 240 PIN DIMM Dual Channel.

Please let me know how the timing works and if the new RAM is possible.

Thanks.

P.S. How much would my old RAM be worth (The 2X512MB)? It has been in my computer since November and have Lifetime warranty.

The new RAM would most likely work. A definitive place to find out for sure would by from your motherboard's manufacturer. Instinct tells me not even to worry about it, though.

As for how much your old ram is worth... maybe $40 on Craigslist?
