Dungeon Keeper Thread

I am a big fan of these 2 games, they are such a blast, in a unique world. I still play Dungeon Keeper 1 sometimes, because I can't get Dungeon Keeper 2 to work on XP. It's a shame Bullfrog went under.

Does anyone know what OS Dungeon Keeper 2 works best on? I have a crap computer I could load it to, just need to know what OS to put it on.

Dugeon Keeper was a guilty pleasure for me, it unleased my sadistic side...
As for DK2, try using Windows 98 SE, it would run 99.99% of Windows games that don't run on Windows XP (barring any hardware issues you might have). But before that, try running DK2 in compatibility mode for Win98 in Windows XP. Funny thing is that DK1 runs just fine under WinXP.

Have you played the Gold version of DK1? I heard it has levels the original doesn't, I'd like to give those levels a try.

Well, I used to be HUGE with Dungeon Keeper 2, Since I never got into Star Craft like others I always was into Dungeon Keeper 2. I remember they announced Dungeon Keeper 3 a while ago... Sadly I don't think it's ever coming out.

I did use to play Dungeron Keeper on XP but it did freeze some times for no reason at all. Try setting it up with the compatibility modes.

Talk about coincidences. I started playing Dungeon Keeper again a few days ago. I had forgotten how fun it was to bring devestation to the land. Burning cities and towns, slaying the good guys and starving the peasants. Sure, you don't get to see all that, but it's easy enough to imagine. And that's good enough for me. For now.

Have you beaten DK1?
Once you get him in the last level, the Avatar proves himself as the best minion ever. He can take on two lvl 10 Horned Reapers and a multitude of Bile Demons and still come out alive. Capturing him is an ordeal, but it helps greatly when it comes to killing the super strong CPU opponent (which has nearly unlimited resources).

I loved Dungeon Keeper. I remember playing it so much years ago.

I enjoyed digging and carving out my dungeon world, and attracting all sorts of monsters to do my bidding.

I haven't played it in so long, but I can still hear "Yipeeeee!"

Imps are cool.

Level 10 Vampires own.

I've had "Dungeon Keeper II" in some folder for 6 years now.. it has survived dozens of windows crashes and one hard drive change.

Now I'm going to try it for the first time, because of this thread. What? It doesn't run in windows XP?? I'll do... research. =(

UPDATE: Ah I didn't bother with my version, it was a rip release, not iso (so early..), without speech and movies.

But a quick googling gave me this: http://www.ntcompatible.com/How_to_i...P2_t30079.html

Dunno if it works perfectly that way.. that microsoft program mentioned sounds interesting though.

A thread, and yet no one said anything about the multiplayer? I wish I could find people that actaully played it online, cause I thought that was the best, especially since I could take control of a minion and go on a raid with the rest of my creatures into someone elses dungeon...

Good Times

I remember playing Dungeon Keeper 2. My brother's friend had the disc and I must've wasted 2-3 CD-Rs before I got it burned right so that I could install it onto my computer. Anyway, it was a fun game to play, especially when you could control the monsters yourself, even though they couldn't get to level 10 that way. All I ever did in the first person control mode was strafe circles around the enemy while jamming down on the attack button, they could never hit you, because they keep turning around trying to get at you.

It was hella fun playing the single player mode, but I tried playing one of those deathmatch type games, and the computer just stomped me. They sent a wave of like 20 guys after me when I was still building up and only had like 5 guys. There's no way that controlling the mob would've even helped me win. The computer's a cheater. Well, that's my rationalization and I'm sticking to it. I was never that good at RTS games anyway.

Imprisoning on.
