Team Fortress 2
Yah yah, I know. Inferior product, no KB+M. Doesn't change the fact that this game still rules (and is more fun than Halo 3 MP!)
This thread is to find out who's going to be playing this on LIVE! I need to unlock my "With Friends Like These" achievement... So far, I'm quite a fan of 2Fort and Well. The bigger maps seem a little less fun, but maybe just because it takes a lot more coordination to get anything done. |
how's it run on the x360? do the controls suck?
|
It's quite tight actually. Controls are fine because the game is pretty basic. Run, jump, shoot. Shoulder switches. Use the D-Pad for Engineer/Spy schematic/costume swapping.
Game LOOKS gorgeous, runs smooth. But that's to be expected on a 360. |
Well it's expected that much is true, but even though the system has been out for two years developers still manage to screw up the lower taxing games more then the mind blowing graphic games. Ex FEAR looked like it was running on medium PC settings and still had frame drops, VS Gears which has minimal slowdown running arguably the best graphics on the console yet.
So while it seems obvious that a game like TF "should" run perfectly on the 360, I would have to say that questioning the lower visual quality based games is more relevant then the games with amazing graphics simply based off of trends in today's market. (Which isn't to say that TF has bad graphics by any means, because the stylization is quite amazing, but I think you know what I mean.) More on topic though. It's good to hear that Valve is taking the Orange Box on the 360 a lot more serious then they did HL2 on the original Xbox which was a horrible port that made you want to beat your head with something blunt then carrying on. This was due to the bad framerate and long load times more then anything else though. I myself can't wait to get the Orange Box later this week for the PC. OH YEAH! |
Valve developed Orange Box for 360 internally, so this isn't a port at all.
The game runs at a constant 60 FPS, and there's a cool developer "making of" section you can go through where they tell you how they did everything to make it look cool without affecting the framerate. |
Like I said, nice to see them doing it right this time around.
Cool. I know that a lot of people think of developer interviews and documentries making of videos being standard bonus content and pay no mind to them, but for some reason I love them. From God of War to Lair and BioShock I enjoy them, so whenever I see a game with this sort of content I look forward to it and usually watch it before I even touch the game. Thanks for the heads-up Guru ;) |
