Formatting my computer

Hello....

I want to KILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate it, I can't stand it... eitherway..... so it's win xp home

Tried to reboot that shit of trash and pressing F8 then F10 then F4 constantly and it didn't work.... tried delete and got into bios

So how do I do this now? Is there a way to set up a full clean reformat from the computer itself?

Auditor Oct 6, 2007 12:17 AM

This is how I do it:
1) Configure the bios to boot/load from the DVD/CD drive first.
2) Put your windows xp cd(only works with the full version)
3) go to format, and delete all your partitions. Then create new partitions (this should do a "fresh" format)
4) Format the partitions to NFTS..or whatever the windows format is called, then install windows.

I'm sure people have better methods, but this is how I've been doing clean installs.

Problem - I was NOT given a CD... Futureshop and Canadian Electronic stores practice Tyranny

Now I do remember formatting it before... just dun remember how

Well, you can do a google search on it. You can check this forum for some clues:

how to format a hard drive with xp - CNET Windows XP Forums

Hope this helps!

It's all BULL nothing is working... stupid freaking cursed computer

I tried with the link and all the programs I was recommended didn't do a thing - used SMARTDRV but when I click on ANY letter to "choose" my drive = boo it disappears and no CD "creation" is taking place

Also went to microsoft site and whatever the download there WinXP_EN_HOM_BF.EXE did not work... tried the method with right clicking on computer and "Manager" then "format"... format was in gray (not highlighted)

Searched yahoo... nothing helped... I kept seeing people say to use WipeDrive

BUT I just don't feel like paying 40 buck for something I can use once and those bitches from **** got Demonoid banned from us

Any ideas?

Oh and through my reading my I386 folder only has 12 files (87MB) which means I am missing files

EDITING: re-installed SP2... but no winnt files that are exe

Zergrinch Oct 6, 2007 06:31 PM

What the [beep] are you talking about...?!!

Finding and downloading any Windows XP SP2 slipstream CD image is very easy. You don't have to use Demonoid for that...

Tsunade Oct 6, 2007 07:41 PM

slipstream CD image... wtf is that? I'm a n0_0b btw so you gotta go slow on that....

I downloaded the whole SP2 Package and it didn't come with that....

For sure you're going to need a WinXP install cd before you do any reformatting.

Did you already back up the data you need?

and... what's the brand of your computer? (assuming you bought it at a store) or did you build it yourself?

Tsunade Oct 6, 2007 09:44 PM

Everything I need is backed up

I have WinXP Home - I HAVE my key (sticker in back of computer)... hmm the brand is Cicero 6130 and I bought it from the horrid Futureshop

oh and @demonoid I meant getting the program WipeDrive

Now that I think about it... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr now that Demonoid is gone... I COULD have gotten a WinXP operating system downloaded and since I already have a key it would have worked..... grrrrrrrrrrrrr I get more pissed when I think about it

makura Oct 6, 2007 11:43 PM

What the.. you had 2 previous threads about formatting your computer back in January and March. Does that mean you never got around to reformatting it? :P

So yeah, you're definitely going to need a Windows install cd. There are torrent sites other than Demonoid.. (just read the torrent comments if there's anything wrong with the disc)

Also, you'll need to be able to burn that Windows image to CD. And get into BIOS to set your primary boot device to your disk drive.

Sousuke Oct 6, 2007 11:58 PM

^ Once you get that done though, just boot from the CD, and the Windows installer [whether you want to use XP or Vista] has a partition manager thingy built-in, so you can delete and reset/format any partition setup you like, and go from there.

@striped phantom I'm glad you're checking me out :P

hmmm the only other torrent sites I know of are IsoTorrent (which doesn't have much in terms of "application), Piratebay and TorrentSpy (which sucks)

Hmmm are there any other decent torrent sites I can use?
