Bypassing Canadian IP (Demonoid)
 

One of my favorite sites gives me this:

That's FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!! So I live in Canada... anyway to mask my IP or something so I can visit demonoid... no fair I got 2.04 ratio on that site and been uploading for loads of time.... grrrrrrrrrrrrr I'm sooooooo mad

Yeah Torrentspy did something recently not allowing US folk to use the search engine for some reason. Torrent sites are going south, and I don't mean geographically =( Hmm.

They're not just blocking the site, their trackers reject Canadian IPs. And there's no public proxy that'll let you route torrent traffic through it. Heck, there's no proxy in general that's fast enough for doing stuff like that. You're pretty well screwed.

This might solve your problem, although I haven't investigated it thoroughly so I'm not 100% sure.

Can anyone help me with this? I searched for a serial but didn't find any... I found a "Hide IP Platinum" but it sucks... my internet is soooooooooooooo slow with it (could be because the IP they keep giving me is in "China, Turkey or Korea"....

The software you're using is doing something like the Relakks or SwissVPN service that's available since some months (?).

Furthermore their claims on the website are not fully true:
"Other people see a fake IP, which is not associated with your real IP"

I really doubt this. Of course they have server logs and such. Also they have to know if the user requesting a tunnel is a valid one. Somewhere on their server this 'association' is stored. Just like with Relakks or SwissVPN.

I see.... the truth is I dun wanna hide my IP... I just want Demonoid to not notice I'm from Canada and the program seems to do this without lagging my internet connection

You haven't understood what I'm trying to tell you. It's not the program that does this. A program can't hide your IP. It's their server where you route your traffic through. Either its some sort of proxy or some other tunneling service.

The program only requests the service from their servers and setups the tunneling. The protocol deciding who is a valid user that has payed for the service is something I think is done strictly on the server. It's not done on your side, the client side, because it would not be safe. Means that you can't crack the software. There should be no such thing as a serial to unlock functionality. It's more a login code for their servers.

I live in Canada and used Proxy 4 Free - Public Proxy Servers, Anonymous Proxy, Proxy List - Protect Your Online Privacy! and just grabbed a US IP. I had to try a couple before the site would load, though. And you'll generally have to browse the site for a new IP each day or so.

I downloaded the torrents just fine though, I didn't change anything within uTorrent, and they didn't seem to reject me. Try that out, maybe?

DHT is probably enabled, in that case.

i would suggest Tsunade browse Demonoid through any old proxy, obtain the torrent file, and launch it in uTorrent. If DHT is disabled and there is only one tracker, find another torrent that has DHT or multiple trackers, or use another source such as Mininova or the Pirate Bay.

@free-proxy I tried it with Mozilla (took and IP and all) but Mozilla wouldn't connect to the net at all oO IE which was not modified did work - maybe I'm doing it wrong oO???

Oh one last thing - hmm if I get a torrent from my school (since I go to school in US) and open it on my computer at home (Canada) would it work? Or would it detect it?

I remember using a "hidemyip" program and that worked - but the premmy version was shit as it went at 5 kb/s MAX (It would have my ip in "Korea/China or Turkey" not sure if tha's the reason why it's so freaking slow).... but the hidemyip2007 was a super sweet program but I didn't have a crack/serial for it (my IP here was in the "US")

So hmmm getting a torrent from demonoid (downloading it) would not work anymore if I run it from a Canadian computer?

I wouldn't blame the "Canadians," but their recording industry. It's total bullshit when some pompous corporation in one country has to ruin something for everybody else around the world.

It sucks for me too. I actually released a torrent of something that hadn't been released before and had a ratio of around 9.00 with about 200GB uploaded. Since the tracker has been shot down, I would like to release it again, but there are so many leechers on public trackers.

Yeah, not a big fan of the Pirate Bay either, even though what I think they are trying to do is very honorable.

Actually, I use Mininova all the time. I don't know why it's so slow for you. On my personal cable connection, it literally takes less than one second for the home page to load. Though it does take a bit longer for specific torrent pages and actual torrent downloads to complete. (Still less than five second, though sometimes it can take up to 10.)

Is Mininova slow at both your house and school or just one of them?

Well Mininova is slow on my computer at home (cable internet) and school (Detroit)... I guess slow as in slower than any other torrent site out there and some torrent pages take ages to load
