Fedora Core 5
I thought I'd ask you guys since my teacher seems like he doesn't really want to help me with this...
So, I'm taking a Linux/Unix class and our teacher wants us to either install FC5 or use a bootable disc. Well, I have FC5 dual booting on my laptop with Windows Vista. It works just fine except for my wireless connection to my FiOS doesn't work at all. However, if I boot into Vista, it works just fine. That is the only real problem I'm having, I need it to connect wireless to the Internet so I can do my homework, but I can't seem to figure out what I did wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
What did you do so far to get wireless running on Linux? Does running "iwconfig" in the console produce any results beside "no wireless extensions"?

The only time the Internet works on the laptop when FC5 is running is if I actually plug a network cable cord from the router to the laptop. Otherwise, nothing happens. I'm not exactly sure how to run the "iwconfig". See, this is my first time ever messing with FC5. If it helps any, I'm running GNOME on FC5 right now.

Um
When told to run something in Linux The first smart thing to do would be to consider typing said command in a terminal |
Merv, I did that and it didn't work. Said it was an invalid command.

You might have to do this as root. Type in "su", followed by your password, then try to run "iwconfig".
