A neat little (American) Civic Literacy Quiz.

It's 60 multiple choice questions concerning American civics, which includes American history, government, political thought, and international affairs and market economy. I got a score of 70% (42/60) which, I'm proud to say, outranks the groups given here, from the article in Tuesday's USA Today:

Harvard freshmen (63.59%) and seniors (69.56%)
Yale freshman (68.94%) and seniors (65.85%)
All combined Ivy League universities, freshmen (64%) and seniors (64.1%)

Those 6 groups were the top ranked in the charts given, which included state "flagship" universities (55% for seniors), private, secular, non-Ivy universities (60.1% for seniors) and Catholic (48.3% for seniors) and Protestant (56.6% for seniors) universities.

In fairness, I really didn't learn a lot of this in school, and some more I even guessed on. The ones I missed were 2, 9, 18, 19, 21, 24, 26, 29, 33, 35, 36, 39, 43, 50, 52, 53, 57 and 58.

The test's attracting the attention of political and history buffs, it seems only natural. I'm also guessing mainly those with impressive scores are bothering to speak up.

The first half of the questions was horrible since I basically don't know anything specific about US history, but the latter half, mostly the economy related questions upped my score a bit.

47 out of 60. I missed 7, 9, 13, 19, 24, 25, 31, 34, 35, 50, 52, 55, and 58. 58 is particularly embarrassing for me because I took economics last quarter and we spent at least 2-3 weeks on the Fed. :(

Overall though, not bad, especially considering that I pretty much never did anything approaching American history (except for self-study), and haven't paid much attention to the news for about a year now.
