Heavenly Sword

Discuss this game.

I bought it on my birthday, which was 3 days ago, and played through half of it that night. Just finished it. It's a short game at only 6 chapters long, but God damn was it enjoyable. I think that anyone who enjoys good action or a good story should pick this up, and buy, don't rent. We get a sequel and DLC if it sells well.

Its no system seller, I don't think, but its a great treat for those of us who already own a PS3. (It did get me to buy mine, then was pushed back almost a year, but its ok)

Since you played it all the way through, is it fair to compare it to the like of God of War?

I know that the question wasn't directed to me however I too have beaten HS. In my opinion however I find HS to be on it's own within the genre. It's not as hard as DMC or NG but it's more technical and more moves then GoW. As for the story and presentation it's in it's own category between all genres.

I know you're not serious. Stop mimicking developer interviews. I swear I saw that before.

Heavenly Sword is like God of War but it is different in its own respects. God of War is more like a game and Heavenly Sword is more like a movie. Yes there are more moves and such and no, it's not a clone, but it's obvious where they got their inspiration from.

Yeah, so far I'm still waiting for familyvideo.com to send my order out. I managed to preorder it for 46 bucks, but they've listed my order as "in transition" or some bullshit like that for at least a month now.

:sigh:

So much trouble to waste 6 hours of my life on.

Me and my brother pooled our money together to get the game, and I'm glad we did.

This game is fucking beautiful. Production values are sky high on this one. It seems very God of War inspired, especially with the interactive cutscenes and the button pressing. King Bohan is awesome, and surprisingly funny at times. I guess my only complaints seem to be some syncing issues with the voices in the cut scenes, and possibly the frame rate, even though it's really only a very minor issue. Oh well. They can always fix these problems in Heavenly Sword 2, right?

I got to the first fight with Flying Fox (I think that's his name anyways), then went to the bars for a little bit and came back to see that I'm going to have to start the game over because my roomates started playing from my save point and got a couple hours farther than I realy am. Assholes.

The game may be short, but goddamn is it entertaining.

The combat system is pretty similar in how it's combo-driven but that's about where the similarities stop. The sword itself changes into three different weapons each to tailor to a specific attack set.

I played through the entire game yesterday and while I fucking LOVE this game, it's so goddamn disappointingly short. It's a great little way to waste 6 hours but it left me wanting more so SO SO BADLY. This game looks great, feels like a dream and controls tightly and very fluidly. I especially love how they used the seemingly useless motion sensors on the PS3 control to give extra depth to the combat engine. Few things bring a smile to my face like hearing Kai yell "Right in the NOSEY!!" after having skillfully maneuvered an arrow through an enemy's skull using the motion controllers.

This game is basically orgasmic sex that didn't last anywhere near as long as it should have but I do recommend that everyone plays it.

I'm usually not in the business of teasing myself. But if its THAT good, I may have to make an exception.

OK... Let's put it this way. If I were to have orgasmic sex for 6 hours straight I, and whatever lucky lady was with me at the time, would probably want to pick up where we left off very soon until we either got tired of fucking all the time or the sex ended. I guess what I'm getting at is: As good as it was, Heavenly Sword doesn't give you that luxury of continuing and 6 hours is FAR too short for sex this good. :(

I got a chance to play this for a little while and watch it for a little while longer at Best Buy recently and I must say that it is quite a sexy game. And it's quite a bit of fun to play, too.

Disappointing to hear it's so short though. Perhaps if it sells well, there will be a longer sequel.

Actually, Ninja Theory announced that an entirely trilogy was written for this storyline so we may see another two games for this story and, quite frankly, I hope they get made. I also hope it sees release on other systems because I don't wanna buy a PSTRIPLE just to play a trilogy of 6 hour games. I ain't rich.
