While you were sleeping....
Some people do some REALLY weird stuff when they sleep. Me, when I sleep, I SLEEP. I stay in one single position for the entire night, and I sleep really heavily. However, I know some of my friends who are really bad sleepwalkers and sleeptalkers. You can have entire conversations with them, and you can make them do all sorts of funny actions.
Then there's also the stuff that you actually do to other people when they are asleep, such as the cliche "paint the guy's toenails" or "shave his hair." So, any funny stories, habits, weird and random events with sleeping? |
In college, I had a German roommate. He spoke English very very well, so well in fact, that if you just randomly met him here in the US, you wouldn't even realize that he was actually a foreigner. No accent at all. Well, dude would sleeptalk sometimes. The first time he did this, somewhat loudly too, he of course talked in German. Needless to say, 3 AM, loud German words coming from five feet away, I was taken aback. It was pretty interesting that even with him having lived in the US for years, and not really speaking in his native tongue on a daily basis, he would still dream and sleeptalk in loud, angry German.
Personally, I don't think I do anything unusual when I sleep. All I've been told about was that I snore. |
I laugh uncontrollably in my sleep, or so I've been told. (This is a huge change from when I was a child and would scream.) Its a welcome change though. Its strange because I don't particularly remember anything funny about my dreams...

I grind my teeth like a son of a bitch. Sometimes, after a good night of teeth-grinding, I wake up with sore jaws. It's enough to wake people up who sleep anywhere near me. I also snore. How lady-like, right? I've never sleepwalked or anything though. I have been known to throw punches in my sleep, though. ;_; |

My roommate in dorms is a notorius sleepwalker. We worked at camp together this summer, and he was in the same cabin as me. He used to get up in the middle of the night and drag his bedding out the door only to wake up (if he was lucky) half way through the procedure. He'd also get up and fuck around with other people's stuff. It was kind of annoying. My bed was right next to his, and i'm a pretty light sleeper so i often woke up, and made sure he didn't hurt himself or anything.
This year, in the dorms, i got to the room first, and put all my stuff on the bottom bunk cause it was easier. While i was out getting my registration stuff done on the first day, he shows up, and figures i got to the bottom first, so he sets up on the top. I offered to switch with him, as we both realized he could hurt himself (he also moves around alot some nights) but he maintains that he'll probably be ok, and we'll switch eventually. Just after he tried out and made the soccer team, he jumped off his bed in the middle of the night and hurt his ankle. That was the first and only time he's done something like that so far, but i'm sure there's more to come. As for me, i've never been told that i do anything in my sleep. On many camping trips, people have told me that i stay in one position when i sleep. I'm a really boring sleeper. |
I generally sleep throughout the night without waking up. As soon as I fall asleep, I don't wake up again until my alarm goes off. Other than that, I don't have any other interesting habits, but I do prefer sleeping with at least five pillows or so.

I mumble when I sleep, and I used to have small conversations with my sister when I was a kid. I also move around a lot and try to push my boyfriend off the bed =/

When I was younger, video games influenced me when I sleep. The only instance I can remember is me sitting up while asleep and yelling: "There's too much magic!". Weird, I know.
Nowadays, I don't snore...I don't do anything while I'm asleep. I'm a very heavy sleeper. Why, again, when I was younger, I didn't even wake up when a car slammed through our front fence right outside my window. The police came, too. And I slept like an angel, although considering what was going on at the time, it was more like hell. xD |
I don't sleep much. Too busy getting pushed off the bed by my WIFE AND DOGS!
Word of advice: If you get married, ask for a KING SIZE BED for your wedding gift. |

I don't think I do anything too horrible in bed... Besides snoring, I don't think I sleepwalk or sleep talk or anything...
Gawd, i'm boring. |
I am a ridiculously heavy sleeper. When I started college, I bought one of those extra-loud alarms so I could wake up easier. While living in the dorms, the were a few times that I would be down the hall in the community showers, and I would hear a noisy alarm going off. Of course, it was my alarm, which I had just hit snooze on and not turned off, that I was hearing all the way down the hall and in the shower. That's how noisy it was.
When I'm really tired and in a deep sleep, I can sleep right through that alarm. I'll wake up hours later and have no idea it went off. I've slept through phone calls, people yelling at me, and people even pushing me around to wake me up. I'd imagine sometimes it may seem like I'm dead while sleeping. One day I stayed up all night and the next day because I had an exam and then an assignment due which I had fallen behind on. It wasn't even one of those marathon awake sessions, just one night without sleep. Well, when I got home that night, I slept for 18 straight hours. When I finally awoke, it was dark out again. I missed an entire day of daylight. Also of note is that I slept through the alarm once again somewhere in that 18 hours. |
As far as I know, I don't really do any weird shit in my sleep. My cousin is a different story. I don't know if he still does it, but back when I'd sleep at his house a lot, he'd say a bunch of crazy shit in his sleep. One time he kept saying "JESUS CHRIST. JESUS CHRIST." in a deepish tone. We all thought he might have been demon-possessed.

I scratch my bunghole when I sleep. A lot.
It's nasty cleaning dried shit from under my fingernails every morning. :( |
I move quite often. And I sing. And I talk.
From what I've heard from mates anyway. |

I used to sleepwalk when I was younger and did a few walking journeys almost outside of the building (lived in an apartment building around that time). Sometimes when someone of our drinking party passes out, he wakes up with pentagrams and something we call a "Glen Benton" (google his name if you don't know) on his forehead drawn with a marker (permanent of course). |
One time I got so frustrated in my dream that I just yelled aloud. My roommate wasn't happy about that one. I'm definitely a talker and occasionally a mover. If I'm sleeping with someone, it's not uncommon that I'll sort of wake up and continue a conversation that I apparently was having in my dream. This tends to leave us both confused.
|
I rarely move in my sleep. I've been told that I grind my teeth. When I was younger I spoke in my sleep... My best friend constantly reminds me that I said something along the lines of "No! You cant make me touch the mayonaise!". I don't think I talk anymore though.

Apparently I twitch when I sleep. Sometimes just small twitches, and sometimes enough to kick my boyfriend out of the bed >.> One time I woke up lying the opposite way down the bed to how I had fallen asleep. The only time I spoke was a while back, being woken up by my mum. She said I muttered, "Does it take a turtle to wear a crow?". I really wish I could remember that dream. |
I'm pretty bad about sleep-talking some nights. Usually it's just mumbling, but last summer when I was staying with a few friends for a week in their basement room I apparently woke them up one night. I forget what it was I said, but it was at normal speaking volume.
I've also been known to wake up in the morning, say something completely incomprehensible, and immediately fall back into a deep sleep. On one of those occassions I declared to my brother "Wouldn't it be handy to skin a giant?" It weirded him out a bit since I looked awake, but I didn't remember any of it later. |
