CPU Visual Problem

Recently, my dad just bought me a new monitor and printer last weekend; hoping it would fix my problem with my cpu but it hasn't. When I set up everything, my monitor still hasn't respond to my computer yet. I know my monitor and printer is working because I set it up in another computer and works perfectly there. If any GFF members know how to help me, please do cause I been on this computer for a whole week already? I thank you so much if you help me. Oh yeah, my monitor is a 17'' flat panel LCD and my printer is a multifuctional one. My CPU is custom made caused my sister made it for me. I have a Intel Pentium 4 Processor and also have a battery to keep it running.

You trying to say that when you use the monitor and printer on your computer it doesn't work, but it does on another?
Was there a reason for the new monitor purchase, was the old monitor broke/ stopped working.
Without some more info all i can suggest at the minute is that the problem could be with your graphics card.
Does your computer have onboard graphics as well as a graphics card?

and by CPU do you mean computer?

The reason why my dad bought a new monitor is because the monitor I use to had was made in the 80's and wasn't working quite well. My computer does have a graphics card: ATI RADEON 9200 but still has the problem.

So their was no problem with your computer before you got this new monitor then?

What's the make and model of your new monitor?

When you say "doesn't work with the monitor" do you mean that nothing shows up at all? If this is the case, then how do you know it doesn't work with the printer?

Is there any sign of life when you turn the computer on (beeps when first turned on, fans spin, power lights etc)

I really appreciate all your help you guys but my sister finally checked my computer and found that the motherboard and video card just fried when putting my new monitor and printer into the computer. I don't know why it would do such a thing but it somehow did. I'll be closing this thread soon so sayonara GFF members and thanx to all GFF members who replied back in this thread.

That could happen if you had the computer and/or monitor turned on when you made the connection. It could also easily happen if you didn't ground yourself (to get rid of static electricity) before making the connection.

Live and learn.

By the way, CPU =! computer.
CPU = Central Processing Unit (synonym for "processor" in PC's).
