If you request a name change, what happens to your previous one?

Situation: Tails is using the name YUKTOBANIA. Can somebody else register as Tails, or is it reserved/permanently taken?

Someone could in theory at this very moment go and register the username Tails and Tails wouldn't be able to do anything about it but ask staff to have whoever took his name to change it so he could take it back.

You're up to no good, Elixir.

I was thinking about temporarily changing my name, is all.

Chances are if I did somebody would deliberately reregister as Elixir just for the sake of doing so.

I tried that on the old board and it wouldn't let me.

Swear to god, I was going to steal Tails' name. I searched the member list and his name didn't pop up, so I tried to register it and it wouldn't let me.

I don't know if this changed in the newest iteration of vb, but I bet it's a security feature.

It's like house insurance. As soon as you do away with it, somebody breaks in and steals your tv.

If you care that much about your name, keep it.

It isn't that, it's just I don't want somebody registering it afterwards out of spite simply based on the fact that I've changed it. It was only going to be temporary, but with Sass around it wouldn't be a wise career move.

Nothing you do is a "good career move" with me around.

I wouldn't fucking steal your name, if thats what you're implying. Why would I want to associate with your name.

It really doesn't matter whether it's you or not. Drama like that is bound to happen.
