Norwegians ~
Oh you Norwegian GFFers, I call for your help !
Me and my wife are planning a trip to Norway. Ideally, we'd like something like a little bed and breakfast in a relatively isolated fjord from where we could start long walks in the wild. The thing is we're having trouble with all the touristic sites out there. They either propose way too touristic things, or confuse you with a myriad of different little places. I was thinking maybe one you Norwegian people would have an easier time locating a place like the one we're looking for. I know there aren't a ton of you around here, but heh, maybe the Swedes and Fins can help as well ? =p Anyway, thanks in advance ~ |
I want to go to Norway :(.
I guess I can refer to this whenever I eventually get around to visiting. <3 Norsk |
Have you tried this site?
http://www.visitoslo.com/en/ http://www.visitnorway.com/ Ironically, I'm going to France this saturday =P Edit: Changed URL |
Some links to the more popular fjords;
http://www.geiranger.no/english.html http://www.sognefjord.no/ http://www.hardangerfjord.com/Default.aspx (English link up top) http://www.eventyrveien.no/servlets/...4&languageId=2 If this isn't what you're looking for (due to the potentially large amount of people visiting the fjords, maybe you're looking for something more remote and not so occupied?), let me know and I'll try specifying my searches. |
Yep Gaming, we did. They're mostly what I was referring to when I mentioned "way too touristic things". =p
Sognefjord looks awesome Killy, but I gotta admit the wooden churches influenced me a lot. We were thinking of going more around Nordland though, since we heard about the incredible atmosphere up here. I think we'd like to avoid highly touristic places though, even at the cost of missing wonderful things. I was really hoping to find some remote little inn lost in one of those numerous smaller fjords. ^_^; Thanks a lot for the help! =) |
Maybe this list might be useful?

Hmmm.....
Hard question really.(And I am Norwegian.) I'd say that you aren't going to find much places with less tourist than others, Simply because the country is small and we get ALOT of tourists. Well if you want a small fjord with little to none tourism: http://www.saudaferie.no/engelsk/index.htm Where I grew up too. :P |
Well, in the end, we settled for the Lofoten islands. We'll be renting a rorbu there in the last week of august. You can see it here:
http://www.lofoten-info.no/Bollhaugen.htm We did everything via email, reservations and payment, directly with the owners. Here's the site we used, if anyone needs future reference: http://www.lofoten-startside.no/overnatting.htm We'll surely come back for more forestry areas, but the Lofotens seems like just what we need right now. |
