This writer must be a complete idiot.

1. Resident Evil isn't marketed towards children. The games are rated M for Mature and are marketed towards a mature audience. No kid is gonna be able to walk into a store and run off with this game.

2. Resident Evil in the past has always had white zombies in American cities. Starting with Resident Evil 4 they tried to change the setting to other countries in order to keep the game fresh. The game took place in Europe and had a bunch of spanish speaking enemies. This game takes place in Africa so it has a bunch of black people. It wouldn't make much sense having all white people in a African setting.

3. No one is going to buy this game for the sole purpose of training on killing black people. People buy games to have fun. If an adult used this game to train on killing black people they obviously have a mental issue.


There is so much wrong with this blog entry. They didn't bother to do any research and are trying to make a racist scene out of it. The writer seems more racist than anything.

STILL, it would be infinitely more tactful to make the protagonist black as well, and to include at least a smattering of random white zombies. It's probably always a bad idea for Japanese companies to make games that feature black people prominently, though; your average Japanese individual has only ever seen black people on TV, where they are made to caper about like idiots. They probably have no idea why anyone could possibly object to "MOW DOWN THE NEGROS: THE GAME".

Are you out of your MIND? I'm buying RE5 just so I can shoot black people. I'm not gonna lie, there are no hidden motives here.

You know, all these years playing Resident Evil, the ONLY black zombie I can recall is some cop from RE2. He wasn't random either; he was humanized and played an important (albeit minor) role in the story. Having the new RE games in different locations is supposed to provoke sympathy on the player's part I think; having a corporation or some evil entity controlling an entire population is certainly a gut-wrenching premise for a story. This woman has to understand that the zombies being black in this game is merely to change things up and make things accurate (wouldn't make sense for whites to be parading around, unless it was South Africa or something), and not a hate crime just because there's VIOLENCE HAPPENING TO A BLACK PERSON HEAVEN FORBID. =O

Oh well. Dirt like this only makes these games fly off the shelves faster.

One nonetheless has to be curious about why anybody would be performing super evil super science in sub-Saharan Africa.

It's an ideal location to do monstrous deeds. No one gives a shit and no one will stop you.
