Recommend me a Screen

This is 2007 and I've always been resisting the flat screen invasion so far ...

Not anymore though, I really need a new one. Of course I could just go to the store and pick a random one, but I like to put a bit of thought in my expenses.

I don't need anything huge and supa high quality. Just something reliable that will last and won't hurt my eyes.

Any advices ? =3

I'm using a Philips 190CW screen, which is 19" widescreen. Its native resolution is big enough to not squint, and the brightness and clarity is very nice. I can't tell you about the longevity though.

So does one automatically has to go to the big brands ?

I see names like ProView, IIsonic, ViewSonic etc... in the stores around here. They don't look too bad, but again, that's an area I don't know at all, so I wouldnt know when to be wary or not.

ViewSonic is about as reliable as they come. They've been in the game for a long time, and they make some high-end professional displays so I'd not hesitate to get a VS if you find one you like for a decent price.

Also, you can get a 19" Acer widescreen for about $160 on Newegg. I have a 24" Acer widescreen (whee, life of excess) and it has vivid colors, wonderful color contrast, great response time...

Actually I went to the shop earlier and blew some of the wedding present money on a bunch of stuff, including a screen. Kinda the opposite of how I described my shopping habits in the first post, but meh. It felt good.

So yeah, I've got a 17' Asus. Nothing fancy but it seems to do the job quite well so far. The contrast/color ranges seem to be quite wide so I'll adjust it as time goes by.

Thanks anyway guys. ^_^;
