Which Torrent Search Engine Do You Use?
There are always a few programs I have trouble finding with torret search engines, so the more I know of the better. My personal favorite is TorrentReactor.net. It's usually a 1 stop search from there.
|
I usually prefer:
isohunt, piratesbay, torrentspy, and also demonoid, which is really a private tracker, but the selection of seeded items is astounding. |
I typically use mininova first, and then isohunt. I can usually find what I need from the first one.
|
I avoid search engines. I do not like public torrents, they've got me in trouble (more than once). If I want any software I can generally find it on oink.me.uk, if I want a game (which is rare) I'll just signup for usenet access for ten bucks and download it.
|
Anyone use PeerGuardian? I heard the early releases were really buggy and were system hogs. Has this been fixed?
isohunt and torrentspy |
I normally use torrentspy and newsbin. Newsbin have really good quality movies, but it's not so user friendly. It's a little hard to apprehend at first.
|
I use Torrentspy and Torrentz
Torrentz doesn't seem to host the torrents themselves, but it gives you results and links to several places seeding that file (or at least have it listed). A very handy search engine, I must say. And it is rather "clean" so to speak. Very simple-looking =) |
mininova for most things. I'll use a bunch of group sites like aznmp3, gamemp3s, etc. animesuki, scarywater, for anime. It all depends what I'm searching for. sometimes I'll use public ones like piratesbay and bittorrent.

Also, I almost forgot: Pianosheets.org for all of my classical music needs. ^_^ |
The Pirate Bay and ISOHUNT. Between those two, I can find pretty much whatever I need. I use mininova on occasions, too.
|
Isohunt, Torrentspy. Except Isohunt is bothering me now with random diagnostics popups that try to install shit on my computer. Boo

NewNova.org
That's about all I use for the generals and then anime-specific sites. |
I use Mininova and Torrentspy the most for just generic things. Also Demonoid is good just for massive amounts of seeders.

2. Inevitably upload while downloading 3. Wait for copyright holders chillin up in the peers to get some pieces from you and log your IP 4. Wait for ISP to turn off internet and not say a word about it until you call them. 5. Call them and ask, "Wtf?" 6. Wait for them to say, "Oh lol you've been caught filesharing, expect a letter from copyright holders in the mail. Don't do it again or you lose ur internet, k" 7. Continue to download movies from Suprnova because you'll be damned if you can't use your 6mbps/768kbps to steal movies. 8. Wait for ISP to turn off internet and not say a word about it until you call them. 9. Call them and ask, "Wtf?" 10. Wait for them to say, "You must have thought we were joking. Ur internet is cancelled, sarry." 11. Don't profit. Granted there's no guarantee copyright holders aren't on private trackers, but since most private trackers usually only allow users to join by invite, the chances of it happening are negligible. On a public tracker, they can jump on any torrent they like. |
Good grief, Eleo! Wow, all that happened to you? Now I'm scared to use minova, animeyume, and boxtorrents. :(
|
That's why I'm asking if Peer Guardian has had its bugs fixed. It apparently blocks out known copyright holder IPs and the list continues to grow as more and more get reported by users that contribute to the list.
Anyone use Peer Guardian? |
I use torrentspy, its simple and I don't have to register or pay.
|
Peer Guardian is ridiculous. Like you can really block every last IP from every Anti-P2P organization.
Based off the logs I used to get when I ran it, it seems like there's Anti-P2P organizations on even legal torrents such as free Linux distros. Honestly, I don't think it works. |
Basic two like: www.isohunt.com & www.torrentspy.com. For torrent and regular releases www.mininova.org.
|
peer guardian works with its own lists of IP's that it gets from somewhere... and you can always update it with whatever list you can find/self updating. pretty much... its so you feel safer doing things you normally do if you normally do them... like car alarms or fire detectors. either way, your car might get stolen, or your house might burn down... it works... i guess... i use it.... and i feel so much safer...*insert sarcasm here* lol i do use it though...anywho... mininova mainly and a few others... <.<'
|
Those aren't fair analogies, but hay, it's your internet.
|
Torrent.to, torrentreactor.to and Mininova
|
Simple.
Isohunt for everything in general, mininova for music, deadfrog for anime rubbish, emuparadise for games, meganova, and some tracker in what I believe is chinese, which often has some nice releases. Deadfrog is basically 4chan's tracker, so you should check it out. |
Meh, the most usuall:
Piratebay Torrentspy Torrentleech Isohunt Demonoid |
