...and I'm sorry. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out. I can be a bit of a narcissist when I'm not tearing myself apart (the curse of a borderline esthete, perhaps).

So now I've quit engineering, and I'm sort of considering something more artistic. I picked up a used Graphire 3 and it beats the hell out of a paint brush (though I'll never give up my pencil). I just finished my first piece. You'll find that proportion is not the issue, but I owe that to the medium. Tell me what you think about the level of realism and whatnot. And don't mention the hair...I'm still waiting for a second wind to go back and refine that. XD Also, the background is obviously taken from the reference photo, which I probably will post later.

I started another, a striking portrait taken by my mom's digicam--very different from my first piece. Hopefully I'll get that done this week.

Wow, I must say that is impressive. If you have ever seen really well done pastel renderings then that's what it reminds me of. I'm still trying to decide if that background works or not. It seems to me that you might be able to do something different with it, but maybe not. Otherwise really well done. Your sense of value and color is awesome.

But besides that, your old sketches are pretty sweet and rather well done. I am surprised I never saw them before.

I tried. =( I can't do the kind of original work you do, especially when it has to be based on a pre-existing character. I had a sketch done, but I think it was destroyed in moving out of my apartment. XD

Thanks. I'd be hard pressed to find a better background, just because I pasted my chick over the original. The lighting all fits by default. Maybe I'll play around with the levels or try some filters.

Ah... that's fine. I still think it would be interesting to see though. I was expecting a referenced caricatured of some sort.

I posted what I'm working on now. I can't figure out how to bump my own thread since I made the last post. XD Anyway, I've got a lot more time now that my girl's back at school, so hopefully I'll be more productive.
