If a chick enjoys playing video games, then yea, why wouldn't it count?

I don't think my girlfriend would agree, unless I was playing them with her.

And if you actually READ THE ARTICLE you'd see that in big bold print that caption was "Does playing video games with our girlfriends count as spending actual time with them?"

You're playing along with her, and there must be some sort of common ground on interests, so I wouldn't see why this wouldn't qualify as quality time with your girlfriend. You're obviously doing something together.

I try to follow any advice that Stuff Magazine gives me to the letter because I know that it is a solid publication with good morals and great sense regarding relationships.

And If I wasn't as busy or tired I would have wrote what I meant, that she would agree if I was playing them with her.

If you can't convey coherence the first time around it's a good sign that you should stop posting.

That part there is sufficient.

But yeah, it doesn't matter if you are playing video games, or taking a walk on a moonlit beach, or cleaning out the garage, or whatever, as long as the two of you are doing it together, it is quality time spent together. I mean if the two of you are laying in bed reading a book, it would be the same thing.

I only think it'd count if they're both into it, or she's at least tolerant of his gaming habits. It wouldn't be quality time so much if it was her watching him level grind in Final Fantasy or something.

Why wouldnt it be quality time with her? Usually, if she's willing to play the game, it means she wants to spend time with you. The wonderful thing about it is, it makes for plenty of sexual innuendos, and if no matter who beats the tar out of who (if its a versus game), the angry make-up sex later will be great.

As others have already stated if your girlfriend is up for playing games with you then of course it's quality time. A mate of mine at work and his missus are quite taken with working through various puzzle games at the moment and she always talks fondly of the time they spend playing together.

Sometimes that's the *only* time I spend with my boyfriend. "Heya handsome, we've got an hour before I have to go back to work. Wanna do something?"
"Yeah, I'm about to start a round of CS... you can still join."

This is exactly what I was thinking. There really has to be a lot of in-game interaction with your partner or else it's just stupid and worthless. Games like 2P Guitar Hero, Mario Kart or Street Fighter (if she's into that kinda shit) will undoubtedly provide more enjoyment of the other's company than "LOL WANNA WATCH ME BEAT SEPHIROTH?? ONE WINGED ANGEL HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT!!1"

More in-game interaction = more out-of-game enjoyment. :)

Yeah, my girlfriend loves to watch me do some pvp. Mortal Striking all up and down that WSG field, baby.

Get a Wii and play some Wii sports with your girl. It's easy enough for her to understand and enough "together" time to get her off your back about playing other games.

Just to put it short from my experience with WoW: If I'm not getting physical pleasure out of it, no, it doesn't count.
