Squirrelly mouse cursor.
My computer is not behaving these days. My CD burner seems to be kaput (though it still reads discs), it's booting up slowly for some reason (gonna defrag and see if that fixes it), and now my mouse cursor is not following the action of my mouse (though it does react to it; if I hover over a link it still turns into a finger, it just doesn't move physically on the screen).
Any other possible fixes to these issues? |
Reformat? Yes, I know that's probably not what you want to hear, but I couldn't help offering it.
Anyways, on a more serious note, as far as the slow bootup goes, hit Start > Run, then type msconfig. You'll see a tab entitled Startup in the window that appears (unless you run Windows 2000, then this will not work), so click that tab and a large list of things should appear. If you are sure of what a process is and you know it can be disabled, disable it. Otherwise, google the process name (or EXE location) and see what the program does and act accordingly. Have you any malware scanning/removing software? An antivirus? |
Kaspersky is running in real-time, so I'd know if I got a virus. I'm doing an Ad-Aware scan...I'm sure I'll come up with the usual cookie-fest. I'll try that msconfig shiz.
