Planning on getting a Wii...
And of course, it's still sold-out everywhere. http://www.gamingforce.org/forums/im...cons/icon9.gif But before I call every store in Toronto, does anyone have any information regarding the shipment schedule? Preferably someone from the inside ;)
Also, can you guys recommend a fun multiplayer game? My first game will be Zelda, but since I'm slipping the cost with my sister, I have to chip in for a 2+ player game. Cooking mama any good? Or is it as stupid as it sounds. =/ |
Mario Party or Wario Ware!
Also, a lot of places have them out Sunday mornings. |
I just tried Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree last sunday and I have to say that it was really fun. especially in multiplayer. It was a little like wario ware but you need to think to past the little game.
(I even participate in a tournament where I won a sweet Wii belt XD) |
I recommend Wario Ware and Zelda. Though I work at a Gamestop, I can tell you that we don't get any shipping dates for them. We'll check pending shipment on our computers, but we won't see them on there. Today we got 9 in and sold almost instantly.
Best of luck. |
Pick up Wii Play, you're gonna need an extra controller anyway~ It's got a bunch of two player games, including Tanks!

Rayman Raving Rabbids and WarioWare are whacked out and fun with many people. They're the best if more than 3 people are involved. If you're looking for something a bit smaller then Cooking Mama ain't bad. Just add in some taunts and it's more fun than some people make it out to be (especially when you talk with your mouth out of sync ala English-dubbed Iron Chef).
Only get Mario Party 8 if you can forgive the technical faults... I've had surprising fun with a crowd of people. |
Rayman Raving Rabbids is a great multiplayer game, though slightly irritating that you have to unlock things in the single player mode.
If sports/soccer/speedball type stuff is your cup of tea then Super Mario Strikers is really good fun (definitely in multiplayer mode). |
You don't get Wii Sports included? Bummer if so.
|
The minigames in Monkey Ball are a lot of fun multiplayer. Better than the Wii-Play ones anyway.
I'm surprised they're still selling out over there, all the shops have plenty of stock here now. |
As much as I hate recommending a horrible game, I have to second getting Wii Play. As Infernal already pointed out, you'll need the second controller anyways, so you might as well dish out an additional 10 bucks for the worst collection of multiplayer games ever conceived.
With the single exception of the tank battle game, Wii Play is outright broken. |
I have to give a vote against Wario Ware. Sure, it's fun and novel and all that junk, but my friends and I were never able to play more than three or four rounds without getting bored of it.
|
No one has suggested Excite Truck yet? Sure, it's only 2 player, but BIG DAMN TRUCKS is too fun to be missed.
|
I totally forgot about that. I'm going to go sit in the corner. :(
|
Mario Party 8 isn't bad. If you're willing to deal with some shoddy controls from time to time, Cooking Mama is good fun also. :)

That neon table hockey game is downright wicked :3: |
The shooting game on Wii play? Totally worth the 10 bucks in itself. Wii Play, while not necessarily being an amazing game, is still a lot of fun.
|
Just choose the most convenient store near you and call them during the hours they usually get their daily shipment. Appearantly the gamestop I harrassed daily got stuff in everyday between 1pm-3pm, so sometime during then I called and bam, only three days of trying I got it.
They really really really don't like it when you buy it though, so I assume, he wasn't pleased when I came and finally had it. |
Well, I just woke up to some cheering in the morning and I see my bro and sis standing outside my room. My bro is holding a FREAKIN WII... box. But the Wii was downstairs. Anyways, I love it! =D
I got Wii Play, loving the cow racing :tpg: Btw, how do I browse the internet? I read online that after June, they're charging for the use of the browser. Any hacked versions available? >__> edit: Just found it its in the Shop Menu. AND WTF. 500 ($7.50?) points!? Is there a way to just buy 500 points? Or perhaps free points.. I mean, we just spent 300. Give us free points damnit. |
Naw, points only come in 1000/2000/3000 incriments.
|
I see, thanks Guru. And I just found out I can pay with Credit Card. Even better.
For the Opera browser, do I need an SD card to install it? |
MARIO STRIKERS CHARGED
No you just download the browser. |
I see, I didn't know the Wii had integrated memory. How big is it? 2gbs?
Anyways, I'm liking the browser. But the quality of the flash video isn't as I hoped for -- still pretty cool though. Oh, and I also rented Trauma (because every other game wasn't available) -- amazing game. Btw, is there a program that allows me to stream my .avi files from my computer? My PSP can do it, why not the Wii. |

It's a possibility that in the future someone will homebrew an app that can do it, considering that Nintendo is going to be launching the WiiWare channel sometime in the near future that allows people to release exclusive Wii content. Who knows how much they're going to police what you can find on there, though. Knowing Nintendo, it might not be as open as people would like. |
You can stream videos from your PC to your Wii with Pimp streamer. You should be familiar with this if you have a PSP.
You just run the pimpstreamer server and use the Wii's browser to access it. Simply type in your computer's IP and the port Pimpstreamer is using (normally 3333). http://www.pimpware.org/ You can also use this on the PS3, btw. |
