People are actually selling / buying invites to this thing on eBay :tpg:. I just managed to get one from a friend of mine after some begging to be one of the six people he sent them to. I now have 6 of my own. I've decided to use them to help you guys at GFF =)

Let's start an invite thing going :mad:

You post your email address (or PM me if you don't want everyone to see it or whatever); I'll send you an invite. Once you've got an account, you'll have 6 of your own invites. Invite other GFFers who want one, and everyone will eventually get one =)

Because, don't you find it incredibly pretentious that these websites all operate from this exclusivity platform? Like, really.

What's special about Pownce? It sounds exactly like every other MySpace/Facebook social network site. Are we just supposed to marvel that it's Kevin Rose's latest project?

I ended up getting an invite onto Pownce, but I'm yet to work out what the hell it's for. It's like some sort of bizarre mix of yet-another-sodding-social-networking-thing-because-we-need-more and file sharing things like YouSendIt. If there's a hidden useful aspect to it I'm missing someone please do tell.

Yea, ditto.

There are no really neato features, there seems to be no way to even BROWSE the users, and there really isn't a whole schlew of customization. (I like custom shit, shut up).

None of my people are on this thing, either. I mean, it'd be cool if I could send files and shit (up to 100MB) on MySpace or FaceBook or something to my relatives and stuff... but this is kind of subpar.

Maybe the developping will come AFTER the fact. Right now, I guess they're buying invites just to get good usernames.

I can see some potential in this Pownce thing, though. IF they do it right and IF they get a good user count.

There's a premium member thing? And people are paying for it?

I think in some ways people are just desperate to be the first on board hoping whatever it is will become "the next big thing"

People probably are paying -__- Ugh. It's decent but I have NO idea why it's a closed sort of thing. It isn't nearly as easy to navigate on as, say, Facebook.
