Uncompressed video screen shots

I'm trying to get a specific frame from an .avi movie. I tried using MPC and going to fille and "save image". I get an error message "GetCurrentImage failed hr = 8000ffff"

What player can I use to capture specific frames?

Under MPC options
-> Playback -> Output -> DirectShow Video

Try using VMR7/9 (renderless).

Restart MPC and try to save again.

I've never been able to get a screencap with MPC, VLC works fine for me though.
