Question about dvi to vga adapters

I want to buy an lcd monitor, but my graphics card only has a vga connection. If I attach a dvi to vga adapter to the lcd monitor's dvi connector and then connect it to the video card in the computer, will it cause any problems?

Also, if I use it for my adapter that lets me play my ps2 on my computer monitor, will it cause any problems?

The adapter shouldn't cause any problems at all.

I used a VGA-to-DVI adapter for years on my old computer, with literally no problems. There shouldn't be any issue with the other way around.

Except that it doesn't work that way. Your Video Card has Female Connections, your Monitor Cables have Male Connections. The DVI adaptors I've seen convert a female DVI port to a female VGA port, rendering them useless to your goals. I'd get an LCD with a VGA connection.

I believe the converter that came with my LCD monitor came with a converter that would work fine in your case. Just see if whatever monitor you're going to buy comes with one, and if not, you can always buy one.
