Apparently this site is not a joke - The "Flat Earth Society"

One topic you should probably read is their FAQ, which provides undeniable proof that the earth really is in fact a flat disc.

They explain gravity by saying that the earth is in fact constantly moving upwards at exactly 1G, amongst other things :tpg:

They seem to have taken most things that would say otherwise - including obvious things such as people actually BEING in space of flying at high enough altitudes to see the curvature of the planet and taking photos - and debunked them all.

Incidentally, 3000x3002 LIES.

I'm actually sort of in awe. Not only is it the stupidest idea ever, but someone actually wrote a book about it. And they go through an awful lot of work to disprove common knowledge.

Reading their forums for a few moments demonstrates that there is a healthy dose of skepticism on display. I don't think anyone other than a few hyper-religious nutjobs who feel that big bad evil science is threatening their right to believe in God is actually taking this seriously.

Lollin' at the thread where they're trying to debunk satellites ='D

Q: Follow-up to previous question: How is it that the Earth does not have a gravitational pull, but stars and the moon do?

A: This argument is a non sequitur. You might as well ask, "How is it that snakes do not have legs, but dogs and cats do?" Snakes are not dogs or cats. The Earth is not a star or the moon. It doesn't follow that each must have exactly the properties of the others, and no more.

This was...the funniest thing I've seen all day.

Q: A good question
A: That's not a good question. Earth isn't stars and stuff. What the fuck is your problem?

I like how they trust certain aspects of physics, too. Einstein's Spatial Relativity? How about that objects with mass exert gravitational fields? This is wrong? Or does the earth simply have no mass?

I just HAVE to add this one, too

Q: "How come the travel time by air from South America to New Zealand, via the polar route, is SHORTER than the travel time going North first and then South again?"

A: (Presumed answer: The airline pilots are misled by their GPS, or are deliberately conspiring to make it appear that the flights take different times)

Day one: Ok, pilots! We're going to tell you the truth now
Day Two: The pilots ALL keep it a secret, because there aren't many pilots or anything

Just...awesome

Antarctica as a continent does not exist.

Hm.
So I wonder how scientists are on Antarctica, doing research? Also, wall of ice??? WTF?? Also, I'm pretty sure this is an accurate picture of our earth:

That thing is going to tip over. I suddenly feel a whole lot less safe. These guys need help.
