[SOLVED] To WWW or not to WWW?

Which one shall reign supreme? I don't like having to have two separate cookies, so let's settle on one.

Stealth Jun 21, 2007 12:52 AM

Why is this even an issue? Doesn't vB have an option for a global cookie?

Roph Jun 21, 2007 02:22 AM

I use just http://, just becuase it's cleaner and the www. is un-needed. I force the removal of the "www." on all of my own domains.

nuttyturnip Jun 21, 2007 01:29 PM

I use http://72.36.219.91/forums because I'm different like that.

WORLDLY WIDE WUBS 4EVER

FatsDomino Jun 21, 2007 01:44 PM

^^^

yes.

RacinReaver Jun 21, 2007 02:11 PM

Weren't we forcing the www a while ago with all the links on the forums?

Elixir Jun 21, 2007 02:37 PM

Aside from the complex physical connections that make up its infrastructure, the uniform resource locator of the world wide web and directly related hypertext transfer protocol gateways are both optimal choices.

It's highly likely they may fuse their collective dimensional platforms into a new paradigm of worldwide platform solutions and equitable dynamics processing to ensure the future growth of Internet outlets to a mainstream audience and marketable stratagem.

Er, I mean, I chose www because often sites require it anyway.

FatsDomino Jun 21, 2007 04:20 PM

I dare you to say all that with a bunch of marbles in your mouth.

wvlfpvp Jun 21, 2007 07:40 PM

Weebles Wobble, but they don't leave out the www.

BlueMikey Jun 21, 2007 08:36 PM

www. because it is standard.

Or, even better: http://forums.gamingforce.com/ with nothing else after it.

I'd actually prefer if we used that, though it might be a little work to sort it out. Notably, I know some stat programs calculate subdirectories and subdomains separately.

I don't know. If we could enable this, that would be awesome.

Bigblah Aug 6, 2007 12:39 AM

http://gamingforce.org and http://www.gamingforce.org now use the same cookies. Log out and log back in, and you should be able to switch between them with no problem.

wvlfpvp Aug 6, 2007 02:15 PM

I think something's up with the cookies; when I revisit my usercp now, it doesn't show that I've visited threads.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Aug 7, 2007 02:42 AM

Is your memory really that bad?

Bigblah Aug 7, 2007 03:23 AM

Try clearing any cookies that have to do with gamingforce.org, and log back in.

Kaleb.G Aug 7, 2007 04:10 PM

Bigblah, you .

Winter Storm Aug 7, 2007 04:31 PM

I've been using the URL with and without the www. for as long as I've been a member here x_x, never had any cookie issues.

I tried; the problem's with that little folder; it no longer is yellow after I've visited stuff, and when I post now, it stays red with new posts as opposed to yellow with visited.

Bigblah Aug 7, 2007 10:39 PM

It works correctly for me, though.
