My IRC stopped working. I try to join and I get Unable to connect to server (Connection refused). Someone help?

Are you attempting to log onto fire.xelium.net? That's bobo's now-defunct Xelium server and it'll get you nowhere.

It's possible that you've got the auto-connect set to "Xelium: Random Server" also, in which case it may very well make numerous (failed) attempts to connect to Fire.

Try manually selecting odin.xelium.net or mainstreet.xelium.net and see if the problem persists.

just use:

fire.xelium.net
or
odin.xelium.net
or
deep13.xelium.net
or
mainstreet.xelium.net

I have used mainstreet and deep13. I can't even connect through Chocochat.

Have you checked your firewall(s) to make sure the port is open?

Its already been about 4 days. I don't know how to contact shade, does he have AIM or something?

This happens to me as well, maybe once or twice a week for a day or so.

Seriously, that Spamhaus/XBL shit is the most retarded thing ever. There have been so many fucking false-positives with that system that it seriously makes me wonder if it actually works.

To date, I have, and this would also include Crash, been hit as a false-positive (I just ended up resetting the modem to get a new IP address,) and Skills has been hit. And I would be certain that we're not the only ones getting the shaft from this.

I got hit by it too. Restarting my computer fixed the problem, but I thought my IP was static because I'm on DSL.

Also, elixir gets hit by it a lot I guess, but lol who cares. vemp does too.

Anyway I suppose we could complain to shade about it.

Restarted my modem and it fixed the problem, though this whole thing seems silly since the number of spammers we've gotten has been minimal in the past. =\

At least, them admin guys be getting messages everytime someone's hit with the XBL. So in a way they're getting spammed by it everytime one of us keeps trying to log in without success :D

I am having the same problem. Got kicked out of gfchat yesterday, assumed it was something to do with shitty hotel wifi, haven't been able to login since. Everything else works fine.

Connection refused, connection timeout, etc etc.

Connection timeout is probably shitty hotel wifi. Connection refused, with a message about that stupid XBL business, might be it.

Don't forget to avoid fire.xelium.net (I think).

Suddenly; bans! Everywhere.

After my connection played up again I sat there through 99 connection retries before I got into the channel. I announced myself with something like "what the fuck" and wham, bam, gone. Could someone please... Fix?
