Copying DVD issue
I am trying to copy DVDs, the program I am useing is DVD Decrypter.
I can rip the DVD no problem, but I cannot burn those files on a blank DVD because there is not enough room to burn it on. Once DVD Decrypter rips the DVD, the folder contents are about 5GBs or more, and blanks can hold 4GBs is there a way to make these files smaller so that they can fit on the blank DVD or a way to make the Ripping process produce smaller sizes of files? |
Chances are you are ripping a DVD9 and that's your problem. You'll need a program like DVD shrink in order to burn the files on a DVD5.
You can try to use a program like DVD Rebuilder and use CCE encoding but to be honest that whole process confused the shit out of me. |
yes,DVD shrink can convert from DVD9 to DVD5 for video type only

I just tried the DVD shrink, works like a charm! thanks!

You can also use DVD Shrink to split the disc if it's something on which you really don't want to sacrifice quality. I do this with movies like LotR, The Fountain, Mirrormask, etc. where visual/aesthetic elements are a large part of the film's appeal. It depends on if you care more about convenience (e.g. keeping movies to a single disc, not having to pay for more discs) or picture quality.
Also, you might be able to pare it down a bit by snipping out the extras and just keeping the main feature. I do this a lot and it's actually quite nice, as I can remove the menus too and set the start point to the opening credits of the movie itself, past all the stupid studio logos, "DIE IN HELL U PIR8!!!111!!omg!!11!!!shift-one!!111!!" threats, advertisements and other crap. Just pop it in and the movie starts straight away. DVD Shrink can do all of this under the "re-author" tab. |
