Old news.

A third rehash of the idea (after "The Last Man On Earth" and "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston) has been in development hell since the mid90s and had Ah-nold attached to it at one point, but it kept getting canned.

The real horror is that one day they'll do a remake of To Kill A Mockingbird and Will Smith will play Brock Peters's role.

No. Hard Pass. May 15, 2007 12:15 PM

Please, we all know the biggest bullet dodged was the rumoured Casablanca remake strarring JLo and BAffleck

Someday you'll wish that movie had been made, Deni. I'm saying it because it's true. Inside of us, we both know it shoud have been made. It's part of Hollywood, the thing that keeps you going. If they don't give that remake another shot, and it doesn't star Lopez and Affleck, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

I actually thought about writing a screenplay for a remake of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington starring Will Smith as Jeff. Instead of a scout leader, I'd have to make him a "street wise" inner city mentor to further create contrast.

Of course I would never actually wanna see such a movie, but I'm certain it would make a killing at the box office if it was released the first weekend in November.

Yes. When I first heard that news, it disturbed me greatly. :( Wasn't there also one time where Nicholas Cage was supposed to be Superman?

Guru May 15, 2007 02:19 PM

Haha, Nicholas Cage's career is in the shitter. Starring in movies with Jessica Biel... I think Next made like 4 million on it's opening weekend. At least Will Smith's movies are watched and make money. The Pursuit of Happyness was actually quite good.

The difference is that Vin Diesel has been in TWO classic movies, while Will Smith has only been in one.
