One of the best improvements at SB was the section of the frontpage that displayed the five most recent posts. I thought it was great for quickly seeing where the action was.

Is there any chance we could have that here too? I didn't see a single complaint about it, so I'd bet most members would find it useful.

I saw spider man 3 spoilers because of that bloody thing.

It's a superhero movie. What's to spoil?

Hero gets cocky. Friend turns on hero. Hero has crisis of faith. Hero has epic battle. Hero overcomes his dark side. Hero saves the day.

Slap a "Superman III" label on Spiderman 3 and it's the same fucking movie.

Also, it's not like you or Blah couldn't have added the spoiler hack at any time.

I also didn't like it, and I don't think it would be good if we get back to standard GFF volume (moves too fast).

Could we just make it collapsible?

I liked the feature at times. I found it a little overbearing at times, but for the most part I liked having it there. Collapsible would be hot, that way people don't HAVE to look at it! (What a great idea)

It was nice if you're one of the folks who refreshes GFF every 5 minutes (which I am sometimes). Blah had made it collapsible on SB, so that should make everyone happy.

It would be adding SOMETHING ELSE to an already huge forum main page. Streamline the forums before thinking of adding it again.

I'm all for this feature as long as it's collapsible. The one thing I found odd about it was that deleted posts (or posts moved to Temp Delete) were still shown up there and if I were to click on the link, I get a no permission error.

That would be my only complaint, though.

Howabout in the View Posts dropdown menu off the top of the page we add in a "View 10 most recent posts" type of deal?

RR's idea sounds pretty freakin' awesome. Alternatively, we could always have a button to turn it on/off. I liked it but found it to be a lot bigger than I would've liked. :(

I also loved the idea but don't know if it would retain effectiveness since GFF is a lot busier than SB was. A collapsible one would be a very nice little perk to throw in anyways, if even only to see if someone really is online and if they would be able to reply to you quickly.
