Wireless Desktop

i have to move my desktop to a different part of my house for whatever reason. but the cable is only in one room, is there anything i can put in my desktop to make it wireless? is if so, does it provide a stable connection?

If it's DSL, you can hook up your modem to any phone jack in your house. Same thing with cable, except there needs to be a coax connection.

If you NEED to go wireless, you'll need a wireless router and a wireless adapter for your computer. The wireless adapter comes in two flavors, PCI (an internal device) or USB (external, plugs into your USB port).

Brand-wise: Don't go with D-Link even though they are cheaper. Working in retail, I saw people buy them and return them in the same week because they just fail. Linksys is arguably the best. I'd recommend this model here.

This is the accompanying PCI card. They're not hard to install by any means.

This would be your other option, the USB adapter. I don't think using either would present a benefit over the other.

Stability of a wireless signal depends entirely on how far away the wireless adapter is from the router and if you are transmitting through walls. In my experience, one wall doesn't seem to hamper the signal much, but any more than that made the signal almost undetectable by my computer.

Its the second floor of my house, the signal reaches fine on my laptop, i get a perfect signal. just was curious if i would get the same signal strength on my desktop for the above mentioned items.

Thank you for the help =)
