Possessed G4
 

I have a Quicksilver Power Mac G4 that I'm using as an HTPC and media server. For some reason, it's developed a quirk over the last few months wherein the CD-ROM (Actually DVD+/-RW) tray will open and stay open on boot. The drive will read discs fine, and the tray can be retracted through all the normal channels (Eject key, holding F12, gently pushing the tray, software buttons, etc.)

For all practical intents and purposes the Mac and the drive are fine. It's just that like clockwork, it always opens itself every time I power on or reboot the system. I dislike it doing this due to the opening for dust to get inside the system and the potential for the tray to be bumped or otherwise damaged if one doesn't notice that it is open.

Anyone run into this problem in the past or know of a fix for it?

Bumping this. I'm curious about these Mac ghost shenanigans.
