Router problems

God this has been annoying me for months now. I have a D-Link WBR-1310 wireless router, had some linksys one which I thought was defective and bought this one even tho that wasn't the problem.

Pretty much I get disconnected constantly it's so fucking annoying. Like two weeks I get this annoying disconnected every 6 seconds and it reconnects, disconnects, and repeat for like an hour. When that happens it pretty much erases my login info when I go to 192.168.0.1 in my browser so I have to re-install the damn router all over again. Other than that I get disconnected for no reason and I'll have to unplug my router and cable modem and hook it back up.

My computer is connected to the router directly so is my 360, my moms laptop and ps3 are wireless. I dont know what settings I'm supposed to mess with to fix this damn thing. I've phone up D-Links customer service but it's always some Chinese guy on the phone talking all the way from China and the phone line is never clear so that doesn't help. I e-mailed them and they said some thing about either turning some upnp thing on or off but w/e it was I did it but that didnt help.

I dont have a firewall on or any anti-virus protector on if that even affects any thing.

I pretty much dont know what to do, it's kinda hard going online.

Have you tried updating the firmware? Had a similar problem at work with a ZyXel router (would go down every 10 minutes on the dot), updating the firmware fixed it.

Other than that, you mention that you had problems with another router, are you sure its your router and not your ISP screwing around with your line?

Flash the updated firmware first, reset the router settings, and configure based on the instructions provided here.

What kind of programs are you running with your computers? Torrents, NNTP's, games, P2P etc...?

Yes I have updated the firmware, I did reset it, installed it again. I have ports forwarded for the programs I use. The stuff I run are games but I dont play online games that much and bitcomet for my torrent downloads.

In my own personal experience, D-Link routers are complete and total garbage. I'm running on a Linksys WRT54GL (Note the 'L', that's important) with DD-WRT firmware flashed onto it.

Been rock solid since I set it up.
