I can't believe they're making a Dragon Ball MMO
 

I found out about this while browsing random stuff on 4chan.

The shots it shows on their look kinda crappy, but since I can't read moon language I have no idea how far in development it is. I actually like Dragon Ball and actually thought this idea would be cool before. But I bet like all MMOs based off of a series it's going to bomb.

Loved the anime, but these games are getting to be rather annoying. Enough already!

You know this could work in a variety of ways....

But that's if you completely base it off of a pre-Dragon Ball storyline...make it completely original.

And by that I mean have it set when Frieza's army invades Goku's home planet...you know Bardok and everybody that was killed when the planet was destroyed. That way you could have your two opposing factions, throw in a couple different races and powers, and you'd be set to go.

But of course you're going to have 17,000 Krillins and Android 18's running around skullfucking each other.

It doesn't look too fun to have a bunch of Gokus flying around Kamehameha'ing everything everywhere. CRUSHING one GOKU has proven difficult enough... I don't need thousands more flying around the world. >.>

There's only so many characters unless they do something original. I kinda doubt this'll happen. But who knows. =/

I don't see why they'd want to have some original characters. After all, people don't want to play as a nobody when you can play as Goku.

Well the whole point of an MMO is to make your own character. Just like you can't use Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Galaxies. I'm hoping those are just early shots where they were using existing characters to work on the game's engine. If you actually have to use an existing character it wouldn't make sense and I'd have absolutely no interest.

If people will buy it it shall be made, most true thing I've learnt since I joined the internet... that and since DBZ is arguebly being replaced by Naruto they're most likely trying to milk the franchise for everything they can before all the interest is gone. I can understand why it's strange to have everyone playing as the characters instead of custom ones, but lets be honest personally if I entered an rpg full of people who all turned blonde when they got pissed off I'd just lmao

Okay, here's rough outline... no I am not going to translate it through my head right now.

The game will aiming for 2GhZ+ PCU and 512MB RAM+...

The article states that you can't play as any DBZ characters so no Goku/Gohan/Vegata/etc for you.

You can marry and have child (possibly children...) and play as the 2nd generation from your bloodline.


That's all the main stuff there is.

Someone I showed it to actually told me it looks like it's in Korean. But since I don't have most the fonts for most foreign languages on my PC, pretty much all the text just shows up as ??????

yes it's korean, I have no interest in dragonball... i just dont see how they will handle properly a "class" system (if there's one)

This thread sucks badly. Personally it looks REALLY gay.

My only gripe would have to be how over used each power would look.

I mean any mmo nowadays has easily over 30+ spells and abilties for each class in there...Dragon Ball has like....10...total.

Well, that depends on how much of the series they draw abilities from. Their are alot of characters that make very few appearances that have their own moves. If you throw in alot of the obscure moves used by less important characters you could have a pretty big selection. Also, who's to say they won't make up their own original moves just for the game?

hmm i think that dragon ball game didn't look too bad i guess i would play it if i had the chance to mainly for the reason that i can beat up other players and find the dragon balls and collect Zenie so ya i think i would play that game if i had the chance too

Anyways, quit hating on the DBZ MMO, people. You all should be encouraging a localization of this gem! Just imagine if it really did come stateside. All the DBZ fanatics will flock to it, and quit playing the MMORPGs we play. Sounds like a dream!

That looks absolutely terrible. It seems like a 2d game but a loads of different angle positions. They need to spend much more time on the quaility, but im guessing it would be too much like City of Heroes..

Have you even seen the recent DBZ games? This is fairly similar graphics wise. I'm sure they want it to look like the thing it's based off of which is an anime. Not saying it will be a good game, but don't expect realistic 3D character models from a game based off of an anime.

Very good point Ozzie, i was just saying that i might have been sleightly more up market once it's released if they mad the graphics better..

The graphics probably will be better by release. From what I've read it won't even be in japan till 2008.
