Nah, apparently this crazy woman wasn't even in a relationship with this guy.

What I'd be asking is exactly how drunk did this couple get? He consented to the whole tied up to a chair aspect but when she started to get properly violent he panicked. If you're both drunk and one of you is tied up, expect the unexpected (not agreeing with unconsentual violence, just I think you'd have to be a complete cretin to let yourself get tied up in a strange person's place).
