Avatar background transparency?

Would there be a way to make it so that avatars that arent the full 105x150 don't have that lighter box as a filler?

Have a customizable avatar background color? It would probably be possible, but I don't know if it would be worth the trouble. I think I would make use of it if we had it, though.

You can always make .gifs with the background instead of transparent, but I guess that limits you a bit on filesize, too.

I'd like to second this, because removing the whiteness from the edges of a gif is really fucking annoying.

Then just add a bottom layer to the gif and make it white or whatever color you want. What's so hard about that?
