Quality Optical Media
What’s up guys. I’m looking for some high quality optical media, as I’ve recently learned the consequences of burning to cheap, low end discs :(…
I’ve just switched over to Taiyo Yuden for DVD’s, and am loving them. From what I understand, these are far superior to most DVD’s, and last a long time. If there’s a better alternative, do tell! My old burned CD’s are starting to show some signs of rot, as some will no longer read in my cars CD player. I also recently purchased a dual-layered DVD burner, yet I know absolutely nothing about any of the blank DL DVD’s that are available on the market. Anyways, I’m basically looking to find some quality CD/DVD/DL DVD (or is it more appropriate to say DVD5 and DVD9?) brands that you guys know of. Price may be a factor, as I really don’t feel like purchasing a $10+ DL DVD. Thanks a lot! |
Taiyo Yuden are the best as far as I know. However, I don't think they make DL discs yet. I could be wrong about that though, since DL discs are still much too expensive for me, although I've had a DL burner for a long time. Where did you get your DVDs? I always get mine from www.rima.com, and I'm always happy with them.

Pretty good deal. 100 pack Taiyo Yuden DVD -R 8x for $28.99. Pretty much the same deal as where you get them when you factor in shipping, except mine come shrink wrapped without the nifty spindle case:(. I didn't even realize that they also made CD's. Are those of the same quality as their DVD's? |
Oh yeah, I've heard that Meritline is also a good place to buy from, but I've never used them. As for Taiyo Yuden CDs, they are definitely on par with their DVDs.

google Digital Dolphin
he's an authority on optical media according to him, TY hasn't been very good lately.... he recommends verbatim or maxell plus series for normal use |
