I listened to the sample music (though the one I have is incredibly distorted), and once the opening single was passed my way I also spent a ton of time listening to it. Now that the first OST's out, I've been given a taste of even more of that the game has to offer.

Wow.

I loved the battle and (mini?)boss themes before (By far my favorite in the series), but the rest of the soundtrack is extremely pleasing to the ears. Especially so are I Can't Turn Away Now, The Road to Tomorrow Follows Behind You, and the Vth Vanguard.

Now I just have to wait for the game to hit the States before I can hear this awesome soundtrack in context.

I managed to snag it a couple of days ago, and it didn't excite me as much as Wild Arms 4's OST, not to say that it wasn't a good OST. Just that songs like Stationary Village Ciel and The Hand Reaching Out to the Sky were instantly more appealing. I didn't click as easily with Noriyasu Agematsu's stuff, although I still love a couple of tracks:

A Boy Meets Girl and ARMS - what a title! Almost as if there should be ellipses before "and ARMS". Sounds very much like a battle theme despite the very different and serene opening. Also has hints of the motive in Justice to Believe which I noticed in other songs too.

The Dry Wind Blows Over You - This must be a dungeon/field theme. I wouldn't get tired of dungeon crawling to this music. Not for a while. Very Western, despite "An Encounter in the Sunset" being the most Western sounding track, IMO.

Elvis PALB_3106 (: Battle) - Odd. I don't know how to describe the correlation between the title and what it sounds like.

The Road to Tomorrow Follows Behind You - I am strongly reminded of the river section in Wild Arms 4, where Jude saves the dog. Gives me an autumn impression with the flute, so that must be why.

It's a wonderful OST, but for me, this time every track is really good without any single one standing out as being any of my favourites I would listen to many times in succession. The goodness of the OST is more equally divided over a lot of songs rather than having a couple of good songs and a couple of bad songs. There are only 2 songs I willingly skip over out of all the tracks in the WA5 OST!

Elvis PALB_3106 (: Battle)

the first part refers to the model of one of the four major generals in the game, so there really isn't a correlation to the meaning of the title. The person who you fight against is considered kind of funny, and that's why the music reflects the comic humor of the scene (despite the fact that he's a MAJOR boss)

What's even more funny - all my HOLY SHIT OMG I WANT NOW songs are in OST 2... except for "Understanding the Vastness of the World and Still..."

"Terrible-Monster Attacking Crew" is the best WA boss theme imo, with WA3's boss coming in second.

Anyway,
So far, Kouda is dissappointing me greatly on this one. Agematsu is the clear star here, writing the majority of the songs, and all the kickass battle themes. I have quite a few favorites, but ill list a few now:

A Boy Meets Girl and ARMS
Terrible Monster Attacking Crew
Defence Action Squad Heroes (normal boss im assuming?)
Pilgrims Progress
The road to tomorrow follows behind you
The Crimson Flower Blooms in the cold
When the Heart Ignites

Most of Kouda's AMAZING songs are in original soundtrack 2, including the Nightless City Guara Bobelo equivalent, and the trance/rock battle themes.

I actually got kind of annoyed with Pilgrims Progress on the start, after it playing a few times.

The Crimson Flower Blooms in the cold only plays once in the game =), along with many other songs.

At least in Volume 1, Agematsu's tracks were the only ones I really liked. I liked a lot of Kouda's tracks towards the end of the game, so Volume 2 is a vast improvement.

Yes, Vol. 2 is much better Kouda wise. I absolutly love the Nightbane battle theme. Agematsu suprised me with the Kartikeya and Persephone battle themes; A much different style than most WA boss themes. But, this is a thread for Vol 2 so thats all ill say.
